NMNA. Good looking car!

7 replica for sale in FL

I'm considering selling my "built-from-scratch" Lotus Super 7 replica. I started building this car in September 2012 and worked pretty much 40 hours/week for over a year until it was registered and tagged here in Orlando in November 2013. I figure I have 1500 to 2000 hours invested in this build. The Super 7 has been garage kept since the beginning of construction and runs and drives great!

This car is crazy fun to drive. When you take it out of the garage, it's like having a puppy in front of a sorority house...everyone wants to look at it and take pictures. If you dislike attention, this is NOT the car for you! No top, no side windows, but fully street legal. Like the original Super 7s in the late 1950s, the car is Right Hand Drive. I am 6'5" tall and 210 pounds... I built it to fit me, so it has great leg room. I bought two, brand-new 15" UltraShield Spec Miata seats and put the driver's seat on a slider to fit shorter drivers. The seats are snug for me (36" waist) and it would be difficult for a heavier person to fit in these seats!

With only 1,950 miles since the build, the car is powered by a low mileage 1993 Mazda 1.6 Miata motor with the matching 5-speed transmission, rear suspension and front spindles. A few other items used in construction include:

• Wilwood Clutch and Brake Master Cylinder kit • VDO "Vision Black " Gauges • Fiberglass fenders, nose and scuttle from Kinetic Vehicles • Aluminum body with steel floorboards • 5 Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 205/50R-15 tires mounted on 5 black Konig 15 x 7.5 "Lightspeed" wheels • Spec Miata 15" padded aluminum racing seats (by Ultrashield) • G-Force Racing Harnesses • KTM front turn signals - Caterham rear turn signal and brake lights

Except for the drivetrain, I used all new parts during construction. I have had the car on the Robeling Road racetrack (in Savannah) with the local Porsche Club and autocrossed it twice. It's very quick, runs and handles better than I had hoped. It's only 1300 pounds, so it's like owning a street-legal go cart! This is like a 4-wheel motorcycle for $10,000 less than a big Harley Davidson!

Asking $14,995 cash. Clean title in hand. I deal only in person and only in cash. Serious inquires only please.

It's got some slightly odd dimensions from the side view. Very long wheelbase, but that means the engine's set back pretty car. I'd love to know more about how he modified the stock Locost chassis design other than putting the Miata subframe in the rear.

I think I need to find out where those front fenders came from

I wonder what the wheelbase actually is. Looks like a good build. Not a terrible price. I wonder why RHD.

Nice one on Bring a Trailer this AM for about half the price. But unfortunately, it's not sitting a mile away from me like the silver one.

Winning bid was $15,000

I'm fairly active in the Lotus 7 replica community, and in my experience, homebuilt Locost 7s CAN be a great value for the second owner. Potential buyers gravitate to kits because they feel that implies a certain level of engineering and providence. This is somewhat unfortunate, because some home builds are superior to some kit builds. CMC kits for instance were crap, and I've heard bad things about Robin Hood and others. Alternately, home builds range from crap to exquisite. IMO this one is probably asking for more than market will fetch, but you never know.
