I just watched Doug DeMuro's review on the BAC Mono, sort of an F1 car for the street. I never really paid much attention to it due to its astronomically high $250K price, but was surprised when Doug said that it weighs about 1500 lbs and has around 250 hp. I thought sure it would have weighed about 1,100 lbs based on its size and all the carbon. Midlana only weighs about 150 lbs over that, and has up to twice the power. So the winner got himself a pretty good deal in the power-to-weight vs $$$ department!
I actually tried contacting Doug to see if he wanted to review Midlana some months back. After a few weeks of no reply, I gave up and approached BaT, and of course Doug replied once the BaT process had already started. He said, paraphrasing, "I'll put it on my short list for consideration." So while that's not a sure thing, it's hard not to wonder how that could have gone. If he'd done the review, I'd very likely have listed Midlana on his site, Cars and Bids. While the review would have giving it more attention, it's hard to say whether that would offset the smaller audience on C&B. Who knows, but the ordeal is finally done, money is in the bank, and I trust the new ower will be very happy with her.
