Wanting to buy a cheap beater to save a little on gas and keep miles off the Q45 preferably. Could give half a hoot about visuals, just need it to be mechanically sound enough to daily. Sell me that car that You've been meaning to get out of your backyard. Would prefer feet not to go through floorboards. Need title/the ability to get it titled. Budget is about 2500, lowest offers win.
Willing to travel for the right deal and a McDonald's mcchicken sandwich.

King of Florida car deals!
I'm kinda sorta vaguely doing the same thing, in the same area. I'm in Davenport, FL until Saturday. Browsing through CL for a good bargain. Want a car that can be comfy and economical(ish) driving back and forth from Atlanta to Davenport.

If you look in the forum, there's a 2000 Civic EX auto that was posted for sale in Georgia. Would make a good beater

Paging Stampie... I'm pretty sure he still owns my Personal Luxury Coupe
Yep, saw it. Not quite what I'm looking for. Looking for a good condition, running, driving car that's got a bit of room and is a good highway cruiser. Think things like Ford Freestyle, Mazda5, some sort of wagon, or a mid-large sedan.
In reply to SKJSS (formerly Klayfish) :
Ahh gotcha. Patrick actually showed it to me because it's up my alley
In reply to Tom Suddard :
From what I was told, Stampie is the wizard of Northern Florida haha
In reply to SKJSS (formerly Klayfish) :
Avoid Ford Freestyle but instead look for Ford Taurus X. Same car, renamed but with the renaming the crappy cvt was dropped so Taurus X has normal auto trans. These Taurus X then were styled to be the Ford Flex.
The Taurus X is highly overlooked.
I'll also vouch for Kuma as a good guy. We've had some financial interactions and he was always prompt.
In reply to ExcessKuma :
Set your sights on non-sporty cars with manual trans. No one know how to drive them any more so the shopping competition is not as strong.
2 door cars can be a bargain too because no one with kids goes looking for them.
Combine the two and it could be a real deal. Look for Ford Escort ZX2, Celica, Saturn Ion. Do not touch a 2 door Saturn Ion because they had crappy cvt automatics but manual is fine.
Quickly found ZX2 asking $2k
Celica with auto
2dr Hyundai Accent
Cute suv but manual = hard to sell
Ugly and manual = impossible to sell
ZX3 overpriced but cheap
In reply to ExcessKuma :
If you have the stock Q45 ecu, swap out the hot ecu. With the stock ecu you can run regular gas with a little performance loss but no engine damage. The hot ecu pretty much requires Premium.
In reply to John Welsh :
Stock ECU according to Wes still requires 91 and the cost of that vs 93 was basically negligible
In reply to John Welsh :
That escort ZX2 would be awesome but at a 200 mile roundtrip, it definitely needs to be something I'm in love with immediately haha

Yep. Taurus X is better. This would replace the Prius C, so it would have to be exactly what I want at the price I want. Otherwise I keep running the Prius and live with the right lane for 8 hours
In reply to ExcessKuma :
Please get this and you can call your 1990 Infiniti, "the new car."

Hmmm. Depending on what you have and what it may need I might consider it. Pat has my contact information if you're willing to work something out.
Add a few zip ties to rear bumper...or not, but $2k Civic w/ 143k
Grandma Fresh Corolla
A little minor "whiskey bump" on the front fender to keep the price under $2k
Interesting time capsule Tercel coupe
I often look at the Orlando Craigslist, along with other cities in the northern/central Florida area and you are much better off opening your budget up to the $4K-$5K range.
Well update, made a deal with a GRM member on two cars. Will post more once both have been paid for and delivered.
