That's probably it. Although, it never ceases to amaze me how often v8 America iron is the 1st to end up off the track. Hp isn't always your best friend. Wait, did I actually say that
Having daily driven a 2000 V6 5speed Firebird for 10 years now I can attest to how under appreciated this package is. Predictable handling, easy maintenance, and more pep than you would expect from a "base model V6"

I believe it. The handling has to be better and the v6 can be sorted to produce a lot more power than what it originally came with. Plus, I know this makes me odd, but, except for a 289, I hate the sound of a pushrod v8. OTOH, that v6 sounds pretty good.
