That fixes everything wrong with the RX8 and adds a bit more issues in and of itself. I want this.....
For the guy who say the RX8 lacks torque, and for the guy that says he doesn't like high revving furrin' engines, or for the guy that wants the best handling rig at the truck & tractor pull.
They list it as a "drift car". I kind of don't see the 300 inliner as a great motor for that purpose...

I mean, it should spin the tires off idle right? So......perfect?
I usually like the weird and strange, but that just doesn't make sense. You might as well have installed a tractor engine in it. It doesn't even have the cool factor of being a turbo diesel.
The guy must be British.
That's horrible. I've had a couple of trucks with that motor and they sucked even in a truck. People talk about how unkillable they are but they don't talk about how much you'll want to kill yourselves every time you floor it trying to actually accelerate.
sure is a pretty ponderous choice. supposedly those engines really wake up with a turbo.

So someone had an RX8 with a dead engine, a wrecked truck with a good engine, and a bad case of boredom/drunk?
That's the only explanation I can come up with.

At the very least the ridiculous Miata had some value in being... well... ridiculous. This is just confusing and potentially underwhelming.
In reply to Trans_Maro:
Well, I wasn't getting wet over the 4bt Miata, but in its defense, it wasn't pushing 84hp out of its overweight iron lump. And yes that's the factory power rating for this E36 M3ty boat anchor motor.
^ Wikipedia says 165 hp/275lb-ft
Still weak for this car. If it were boosted I could see it being fun for a short while.

Oops I was looking at the little Falcon inline six. That's what i get for skimming Wikipedia. I thought that sounded low but then I remembered what driving my old f150 in traffic was like. ;)
Uhhhhhhhh......... I mean............
I get, understand, and appreciate odd things, but this is odd for the sake of being odd in a bad way.
Call me just plain confused.
I've owned several trucks and vans with the Ford 300 I6. I freakin love that engine, as a truck engine. Someday I want to get one of the last F150s or Broncos with that engine and add a light pressure turbo system with MS to see what it can do. I wouldn't be expecting a race engine, just a 300 turned up to "11".
The only car I could ever imagine putting that engine in would be a big fat 70's land yacht, but most of FoMoCo's 70's land yachts came with better engines. It would have to be something with an already broken 351/400m.
Back on topic, I think that RX8 is going to suck pretty bad, even as a drift car. Based in the pic of the shifter, they are using the truck gearbox, definitely not a sporting choice.
I'm a big fan of the 300 too, but in a truck or cruiser, like Andy said.
That being said I still kind of want that RX8. I wouldn't go through the trouble of building it but I would definitely drive it.
I'll bet it the fuel economy is better with the six.
I think someone just said "what is the most opposite engine to a Renesis" and came up with this. If that was actually their goal, I think they did pretty well.
