Never seen that style of valve cover. None of mine look like that.
are Amazons normally rusty or did Volvo coat them when built ?

Yeah, that looks more like an Austin A-series valve cover or similar. Odd that.

That is a Volvo B16 engine. Very early Amazons got this unit. Only 3 main bearings and 1600cc, but still a good engine. B18 happened in 1961 for all models. Two tone paint dissapeared (at least in the USA) at the same time.
