That's a lot of xjs for the Money. Wierd of me, but I prefer the coupes. Great cars if you keep up with Maintenance. But that's the rub. Just check out what's involved in a spark plug change.

I've seen a few Jaguars where the owners cleaned up the mess that BMHC in their cost cutting measures made.
Remove the stupid, big , inefficient York compressor from between the cam covers. Replace that bus sized alternator. Upgrade the bulky stater to the smaller gear reduction type used since about 1990, And eliminate the EGR compressor. Replace that with modern A/C compressor, and Alternator. Now enough air flows through that you no longer need the fuel line air conditioned.
The result clearly shows off that gorgeous all aluminum V12. Engine runs cooler, far more reliable. And you lose about 50 pounds on the front end of the car.
Now working on the engine is a breeze. Spark plugs? If you are as old and slow as I am you are talking about 20 minutes out and in. Young guys? 1/2 that. Everything that was hidden is now really easy to get to.

Outboard brakes on that model, it so easy to work on.

If you plan on having someone else do the work. Do not consider it.
If you are knowledgeable about cars and do your own work it will be surprisingly easy and not horribly expensive to own. There are networks of places to get good information on them. Both on the internet and shop manuals.
Do not buy parts at a dealership. First they don't stock them. So they buy from the same places you can and mark things up. Moss motors, Welsh, and even Rock Auto stock parts at decent prices. Lots of good parts at modest prices are in junk yards or specialty wrecking yards.
It's in Cape Coral, an area that definitely flooded. There really isn't a way to know if this car got hit or not because of the variance of elevations between streets and even homes in the Cape.
I'm out of town till Tuesday afternoon, but can probably put eyes on it after that.

Extremely good advice. On all points!
