In 1960 my buddy Max bought a new AC-Bristol direct from the factory.   It was a very pretty car (white w/blue stripes), and a LOT quicker than my 1500cc MG-A. I  can recall running wfo (~ 95 mph) and, as Max easily passed me, he shifted into top gear.  He sold it several years later for considerably less than $295K!
