Does anybody know if the 1100cc 5 main bearing Kent engine came to the US? Even if it was used in an industrial application?
I need one!

Looking at pdfs, the industrial VSG-411 has 3 main bearings.
There's a 1.3 industrial engine (VSG-413, again assuming 3 mains)for sale near me for $150. I'm an hour or so from Road America. If it has any value to the historic racing guys, I was thinking about picking it up.
I started a thread actually: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/ford-kent-1300cc-industrial-block/102349/page1/
Ross,
Check it out PLEASE!
There was as many 711 1100/1300cc engines as there was 109e (what ever the 3 main was cast as). It could be a 5 main.
Heres the ad if you can gather any additional info from it. http://appleton.craigslist.org/pts/5045619838.html
I could probably go to look at it this weekend, if you'd like.
Leo, please say you are just looking for a spare motor and not that something bad happend to the current power plant.

Hey Tom!
Im building up a Formula 2 engine, so I can get that Cosworth engine out of the car.
Hopefully this will be the last season I race the MAE.

Leo, I talked with the guy. I will try to see it this week because he was on vacation when I called him Friday. He said it was basically a new engine with only 10 hours on it when the piece of equipment fell over. It was setup for LP, but I dont think that should matter to you much. Hopefully I can talk him down a bit
Awesome Ross! Thanks again. Youll always have free beer in my padock!
I think the LP stuff was all external...not to mention all the stock stuff will be trashed anyway.

Leo! Congrats! You are now the owner of a 1.3 Liter Industrial Ford! I think the block said it was an 89BM-6015-FD.
I paid the guy the $150 so that's all I'd want. I have the engine in 'cold' storage for now and I can sit there for as long as you want. I live in Appleton WI 54915, but I am willing to get it down to Road America if need be. Plus then I'd have a reason to stay and see a race! PM me and I'll give you my phone number.
Ross,
Thats not a kent block! LOL....I have never seen a block like that.
But all make good on that purchase. Do you have a (gulp) scrap yard near by?
Ill PM you right away to get your address so I can send you a check...or what ever you would like.
The pics on Craigs list were very deciptive. It looked like a Kent to me.
Leo
PM Sent!
Thats what I was thinking as I looked at your pics.
Damn if those CL pics didnt give the appearence of a kent.

Don't think I recognize that block either.
The most fun I've had with a Ford 4 cylinder was a Cosworth 'screamer' 998 in a Ginetta G4. Lovely little engine that would hit 115 bhp and rev above 9,000 rpm.
I'm starting to think it's the Valencia based version of the Kent, which was a shorted version meant for fwd cars. Apparently, not much crosses over between the two. Wiki says it came in the original Fiesta, but maybe just the Euro ones. It also came in other Euro Ford economy cars.
It would still be a neat, cheap, alternative for a Locost Seven or something similar. It still has the old Ford four cylinder bellhousing pattern typical of the Kent/CVH/SPI/Zetec/Pinto... engines.
