Anyone have any car stuff going on this weekend?
I plan on washing, waxing, cleaning and just general detailing my Opel GT to prep it for our all European car show next weekend. If I get it done in time, maybe take it to the local Hooter's show in the afternoon. Do have a lot of honey-dos around the house/yard and I'm out of town during the week, only home weekends for at least the next month.
I will be prepping the race car for its first race this season. A little timing work at 3000 rpm and some 7000 rpm pulls. Poor neighbours
Then I will go over all the parts and pieces. I do need to swap the oil system over so the ext oil filter, cooler and acusump are working.
Ticking clock!
Hope the rain stops.

I may try to finish sheet metal floor of the 32 replica
I'm buying one car (off a forum member), hopefully selling another (hopefully to someone I don't know and will never see again), and going camping, which is only car related because of the mild offroading involved..
Also plan to try and fit wetsanding my LTD and setting valves on the Sprite somewhere in there.
I turned the heat back on this morning.
Oh well. Watch F1 Q while it warms up outside.
I read the Ottawa Race school had snow on the track Friday morning.
Rallycross practice Saturday and Sunday. I'm taking my 9 year old and he's excited to camp out and make a ton of runs. I'm hoping I can get the new rear shocks on Fergus Monday morning before people come over for BBQ but I fear there will be cutting instead of the simple four bolts that theoretically need to be removed.
Today I got a lot done even with the overcast/rain stuff.
Tuned. She revs to 7K very nicely now. I'll check that timing with a digital timing light next week. Did have to dial the carbs at idle. Was hovering at 2K.
Cleared the air bubble in the rad. That was fun to watch. Had the cap open. As soon as the stat hit 180 water bubbling everywhere. Few minutes later it settled. Added some more water and everything hung in at 90.
Washed and waxed. She actually looks good now but this winter I will have to do a lot of body work in the near future.
Painted my wheels. I happened to have some red rattle cans in the cabinet. Figured why not.
1) watch Monaco and Indy on Sunday
2) Minor stuff on the Vette: swap in the Hella H4 headlights from the MR2, put in a better battery hold down.
3) Work on an overdue writing project (non-car).
4) Grill steaks.
Fix a front wheel bearing issue and dropped the oil pan and flushed the oil system. Bearings looked good so I put things back together in preparation for the Spokane Historics next weekend. http://www.spokanefestivalofspeed.com/index.html

Perfect weather in Kentucky on Saturday! High of 75 & a few clouds. The Mission Driven Car Show had at least 250 entries, I haven't heard the final count yet. Cars there as old as a Darog (never even heard of that one before!) The engine looks like a stationary engine for a water pumping station! It has two water cooled cylinder/heads which look like pharmacy jars turned upside down with a compression relief valve on the top (or bottom if you're using the upside down jar theory.). They appear to displace a liter or so each & I'm guessing are piston port 2-strokes.) And cars as new as a Tesla, (1st one of them I've seen too.) I can't believe I went off without a camera!
Sunday calm and a high of 70*, just perfect for Memorial Day events and the best Indy 500 I can ever recall!!
Monday morning temp 75* so a cruise on the Ohio River worked out nicely. Sometimes I dread these holiday weekends! NOT!!
Saturday: Re-install BMW E30 subframe and control arms. Drink celebratory beer.
Sunday: blue, cloudless skies. Spent the entire day on the motorcycle. Upon arrival home, drank celebratory beer.
Monday: replaced rattly end links on the wife's Patriot. Replaced turn signal bulb. Reset oil change reminder. Washed two vehicles since weather should be good all week. Pondered why half the lights on the '65 F100 suddenly decided to go on hiatus. Jiggled wires. Closed garage doors. Drank beer to help with contemplating 48 year old wiring.
I did a small amount of body work on the datsun replica, but wasn't happy with the results. (Hence my thread about paint choices to hide ugliness)
I cleaned 20 years of grunge from the inside of my Miata and it looks pretty good. Too bad about the hail damage. I worked on a Zagato 750 to get it running again and it is running well. Too bad about a compromised head gasket on the newly rebuilt A112 Abarth.
Cheers Ron
I began shortening the steering rack tie rods on my Miata-fied '76 Spitfire. Pics will be up in the Builds section when I finish both sides.
Over the weekend I had the chance to drive a 2008 Z06, the event site was El Toro, CA.
My normal ride is a 1982 BMW 320is, yes I am still smiling.

Weather forecast for this weekend is not looking great.
How could not resist not sticking a camera infront of the tail pipe.
My poor neighbours ;)
