I just heard that about 20 Can-Am cars are expected at the Mitty--wow--and hope to have a list soon.
So, which ones are your favorite? I'd have to say that I'm partial to the Shadow and fully admit it's partially because I had the AFX car.

I saw the Shadow run against a Porsche 917 at the Portland Historics ten or so years ago. They both easily outclassed all the older Can Am cars, and ran lap times within a fraction of a second of one another. Watching them try to put power on the ground going into the main straight was amazing. I'd love to see that again, fer sure.
I'll never forget the Shadow in the day - Jackie Oliver driving if I remember correctly.
That's funny because my favorite is the #16 RC Cola Chaparral for the same reason!
I had that same Shadow slot car-------- that damn wing must have been glued back on 100 times!
My first ever race was the '73 Can Am at Road Atlanta. I was 10. I can still remember the 917-30 blasting down the back straight, and it still is burned into my mind how blinding fast that thing was. It didn't look real. None of the other cars even appeared close in acceleration or top speed, there was that much of a difference. It's still may all time favorite race car, but I also love the V8 Can Am cars as well, especially the Mclarens. I'd love a M8F in my garage!

Correction: Jack Brabham driving a Ford G7A
The car was built by the Agapiou brothers from the remnants of a MkIV chassis.

Heh, I had a 4-lane set with the Shadow, two Penske 917-30s and my favorite, the Oscar Koveleski McLaren. We lived in the sticks, and Auto World was usually the only way I got model cars at all.
David, you do mean full scale ones, right?

That's what I'm told. I might have to bring an AFX car for old times, though.

I've long had a soft spot for the Huffaker Genie sponsored by Nickey (with the backwards K) Chevrolet, owned by Bonanza's "Hoss," Dan Blocker, and campaigned with a great '60s purple metalflake paintjob with hand pinstripes and lettering, called the "Vinegaroon" after a nightmare-fueling arachnid. Saw it run at Elkhart Lake several years ago, and got to check it out up close in the pits.
Guess is was for sale a while ago. Hope somebody's still out there running it.
