I love Fly slot cars. I just wish I could afford more of them. I haven't seen this at our local dealer but found it online: http://cgi.ebay.com/FLY-99128-SPECIAL-GULF-PORSCHE-917K-LE-MANS-NEW-1-32_W0QQitemZ360122299017QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSlot_Cars?hash=item53d8f63289#ht_533wt_1167
My Girlfriend and I got into the slot car thing last winter. We have a ball racing. Orginally we had the track on the floor. Now I think we are going to build a big ass platform in the basement.
Once you have one car or a set...You need more!

A few years back, my brother found our old set in the garage. I think it's HO or 1/43 scale. My first gen Merc Cougar and some non discript "custom". Darn things still worked. Now, whenever the family is together, we set it up in the garage.
We still argue on the track layout, but I let everone drive my Cougar.
David helped me become addicted to slot cars. I think I have over 20 cars now and the track keeps growing. They are completely fun. My favorite is my primrose yellow D-Type.

I collect 1960's vintage slotcars & have a large collection of them. Recently, I found a 100-car collection of modern cars (Fly, Carrera, Hornby, etc.) & miles of track. I hate to admit it but the modern cars run & stay on the track a whole lot better than the old ones. I set up this floor layout, can you see that it looks like Sebring?
In reply to David S. Wallens:
That's waaaayyy too nice to put on the track.

I know, and that's the problem with the Fly cars. They're beautiful. The Scalextric cars also look great, but Fly always seems to just a little too far. I have way too many trailer queens.
mmmm slot cars i was just starting to get into them (thanks race place)and then i found my first miata. Now i must drive
Hey David how about a more in depth article on slot cars. I would be a big fan of it.

Okay, it's on the to-do list.
if things time out right we might be able to a a routed track in my garage for the article..
I'm right down the street from you all in Deltona
Our local shop (The Race Place) just got these in: http://www.shopatron.com/products/productdetail/Mazda+787B/part_number=SICW06/359.1.1.1.21312.14896.6507.0.0?
I was there the other day and came home with a Brian Redman/Mike Hailwood Chevron B19 from GB Track. I know that sometimes their cars need some tuning, but they just look so cool.
I miss The Race Place. I was just starting to get to know Greg and the gang who run on tuesdays and thurdays. My new job has completely destroyed my ability to get up there but i did get a phone call from a past empoyer and things may change soon
Don't forget, Greg is open on Saturdays, too.
