I know all the stuff about these titles affecting car value but wonder if there can be  exceptions.  My 05 baja turbo has a flood title but absolutely no signs of ever being flooded.  The motor was replaced, my theory was a sketchy person blew the motor and said it happened running through a puddle to get an insurance claim to pay for the repairs.  I bought it at a slightly reduced price but have been putting alot into it since.  New motor, seats, suspension are the big ones.  Now I am considering an auto to stick swap.  Not a trivial job, the electronics and the whole drivetrain get changed.  The skill and experience required say pay for the work.  My theory is in another 5-10 years with all the mods and devaluation due to title will be minimal as a rust free 5 speed turbo should be even more rare.  Am I kidding myself?

A flood title will always be worth less.  How much it matters gets smaller as time goes on, but someone that will pay up for a "rust free 5 speed turbo" will pass on a flood car.
