Has anyone very built up or have any opinions on this engine? I would like to put it in an early model Mustang or Thunderbird but have no idea what the power output and mods that can be done for it. Any tips/ advice?

The general consensus seems to be that is not really worth the extra weight, expense, etc. since you'll mostly be on your own with modifications and improvements.
Don't bother. If you want a "big" V8 that's also modern look for a 6.2L out of a Ford PU. There are versions making over 400 HP and 400 ft/lbs for torque stock.
