Saw this question elsewhere, but it seemed like a good one. What is Your "Holy Grail" classic car?
Mine's a Bugatti T35b. No question. With a tiny, supercharged, Staight Eight that has a 3-valve (non-removeable) head, cast with the block (valve jobs require that you remove the roller-bearing crank ). And I really like the built-in "backfire port" on the right side of the bonnet.....very trick for the 1920s.

I've always wanted to know more about an Alfa Romeo 6C 1750GS Coupe 1.7L Supercharged I6
My namesake if you will ran one in the 30's at LeMans.
Back in the 20's he used a Salmson GS 1.1L I4.
But Remember as a kid being passed by 3 911's on the Autobahn. Must have been fresh from the factory or something. Black, sliver and white.

Without hesitation or consideration my all time favorite "holy grail" classic car is the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato:

Can't be a standard run-of-the-mill DB4. It has to be a GT Zagato.
I cant think of just one "holy grail" car..... so,
Toyota 2000GT, prefer one of the shelby scca cars.
Melkus RS1000, go ahead... google it, i know your
curious...
Tatra 603, I aready have an engine and trans axel in
the garage. just need a car

I just know there's a pristine BMW 507 in a hermetically sealled garage under wraps just waiting for me to install a new battery and put in fresh fuel...
Doctor, the meds are wearing off....
In reply to Gary:
I got a good look at a DB4 Zagato at Watkins Glen in 2001, I think it was (I had a pit pass). No paint on that one -- it was highly polished aluminum, absolutely stunning. They raced the heck out of it, too.
One time i saw a picture of 4 of those bugattis parked in a row, each with a veyron painted to match parked next to it. Thats alot of money to fit in just one picture. lol There actually arent any $100K+ cars id really want to own, the closest would probably be a fiat abarth 1300OT or a 50s alfa like a gulia SS or sprint veloce. The only other cars i kinda want that i couldnt currently afford would be a maserati quattroporte III or a maserati 430, but they are both under $10k for a decent example.
Well, if you want to see more than four Bugattis in a row, this is supposed to be a good place. I'll go there at the end of the month. Might even take some pictures if it's allowed and I get the digital camera fixed before then.
As to the "won the lottery" car - not sure, the answer is usually "all of them". But I guess one of the original BMW batmobile racers or a BMW M1 would probably be on that list, a 356 Speedster or similar, and then...
My ultimate barn find car is a Porsche 356 Speedster Carerra GS 1500. Problem is that I couldn't afford to make one that was sitting for a long time run right.

I visited the tatra museum a few years ago, they had this really wild ski car, and several other really cool cars.
my dream would be AC Cobra, something about a big block in such a small car. My photo of the ski car didnt work for some reason.

Hey, that's pretty cool! Were you named after him? (I have a pal who's Dad was a big Lotus nut and named him "Colin")
I always thought Rousseau was a philospher.
The "Holy Grail" car? I'm with Series 6 on this. A BMW 507 hermetically sealed garage find.
Now as for "won the lottery car"? I'd have a fleet or museum full of average classics, some kinda rare but no really big buck hard to find type. All drivers of course.

I have a friend who's wife is named Guilietta (I may have misspelled it. I'm sure I'll be repremanded by the Italian contingent here) Her father loved the Alfa. Named her after the car. Fortunatey she was (and remains) beautiful.... Some things are timeless...

Ok...I throw this down. You hit a decent lottery. Assuming you add 5 production cars to what you have and no more after that, what five would you write a check for? Only rules are 1-not 5 of the same Make/Model and 2-you have to maintain and drive them 500 miles minimum annually.
I'll start: BMW 507, MB 300SL , 289 Cobra, Jaguar XK120, GT350 Mustang.
Santa, it you're listening....
I don't have a holy grail. That takes away a lot of fun as everything else is a "make do". I far prefer thoroughly enjoying the cars/boats/motorcycles/etc that I have.
Are there cars I lust after and like to dream about? Sure! From a TR3A to the Ferrari 250 Testa Rosa. There are hundreds of cars I lust after deeply, and thousands I would love to drive for a few days.
No one holy grail, and I hope that never changes.

Right if the lotto bells rang.
I have owned some of the lesser cars I always wanted but the three that come to mind are the Ferrari 365 California Spider, the Florian Gonzalez owned Ferrari 212 and the Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger movie car I drove at the RM sale in Scottsdale a few years ago. That Aston likely tops the list.
Does anybody remember the Porsche add that ran sometime in the late 80s that went someting to the effect of:
You run out of gas and walk up to a farmers house and he takes you to the barn (it was a 2 page add, you turn the page and there was a 356 all covered with hay) and you ask him how much and the farmer replies "is 500 too much?"
I was 17 when that add ran. Id just daydream over that all day...
Id rather find an MG TC or Cobra 289...
'And then you wake up' was the last line in the add.

I remember on tire was flat.... Right rear.
I spend a lot of time in the boonies and on country roads here in Arizona. I swear I'll give myself whiplash as I can't go to far without looking on both sides of the road, behind barns and structures, and anywhere that 356 (or something else I can't live without) might be hiding. I keep binoculars and a camera in the car, just in case.
Easy one.

Since I change cars too frequently, I've got a series of unicorns that I want to at least shepherd for a while. There's one on eBay right now—a Mercedes fintail wagon. Yummy.

I have a long list but when I narrow it down to just 1 then Aston Martins DBR1 has to be it. The DBR1 has it all, great looks, performance, big race wins (24HR Le Mans) and gave Aston Martin a Sportscar World Championship.
