Classic hearses: just station wagons with extra cargo room?
No blind spots! And an interior that's nicer than anything in my house:

Great lines, and perfect for hauling home all the vintage furniture I can never fit in my Honda:

Nice enough car, but not what I expected.
My friend Paul had a hearse as a daily driver while we were in school. It was a 1971 or so Caddy that was all green--green paint, green interior. Condition was mint. Anyway, you don't realize how big they are since the proportions are spot on. It would dwarf a Suburban. It also made Halloween extra fun. Plus, all that cargo space and the rollers in the floor made it the perfect vehicle for moving from one apartment to the next.

There's a electrical contractor in Minneapolis that uses Cadillac hearses for their service vehicles instead of boring vans.
That Daimler is… well, is it wrong that I want it?
And in honor of Halloween, a story the salesman shared at the cremation seminar yesterday (yes, I did just put those words together in a sentence): Seems a local funeral home "made a pick-up," as they say in the biz, and when the driver got back to said funeral home, he was tired so he left the body in the van, figuring he'd deal with it in the morning. However, a felonious non-dead person came along, climbed into the van, and stole it. Police chase ensued, accident followed, and body ended up in not-as-delivered condition.
This was told in a "you need to deal with us so it doesn't happen to you" tone of voice, so I think they were not amused when I raised my hand and asked if I could pay extra to have my remains involved in a felony car chase. Seriously, though, that's several levels of awesome.
Happy Halloween!

For those final wishes, I'm your gal. You provide the corpse, I'll supply the make-it-to-Mexico-or-die-trying.
I'm picturing "Thelma and Louise" meets "Weekend at Bernie's" here.

So why were you at a cremation seminar?
Duh, to get the facts. And also because FIL is in Hospice, and it's part of that process. But to get back on-topic, and because it just actually happened (no lie!), I just saw one of these drive by the office--complete with curtains and everything. I feel like Halloween just got real.

It's scary when Margie writes what I'm thinking (re: Daimler, posthumous joyriding, and "Weekend at Bernies").
I need help.
My mother's Irish Democrat family owns a funeral parlor in Albany. Great parties there you bet, the only time I see the whole family!
