Do the hood, trunk, glass, et cetera on a four-door '64 Valiant differ from the two-door version? I'm looking at getting a four-door as a donor to a two-door and I'm curious as to how much of the four-door I can use.

thanks, Stan

I need a four door rear window if you find one! I visually compared and they "look" the same, no one seems to be interested in valiants so info is not easy to find.

Windsheild is the same; so is everything forward of the cowl. Not sure about back glass, but virtually all the glass on a '64 Valiant other than the windsheild is flat and can be made easily by a glass shop. I'm guessing the trunk lid is the same but am not 100% sure.

In reply to chandlerGTi:

Is your window cracked or missing? If it's just cracked, make a paper template and bring it with you when you look at a two door.

If I get it and don't need some of the four-door parts i'll be sure and let you know.

Oops. Wrong post, but same answer...

Here's some info on A-body body parts interchange.

I haven't spent enough time around two-door 64's to know. If you need measurements from a beat-up four-door sedan, let me know.

Reminds me of an old car joke - what do you call a cross between an NSU and a Plymouth?

A Prinz Valiant (of course no one remembers who that was today anyway...)

Rear window is definitely curved. Mine is a 63 but they are the same in theory 63-65.

The rear window shattered, San Diego car from new. Brought it to Ohio in 2009 and that summer the humidity went way up and the glass shattered. You could see there was an imperfection in the glass that it broke away from. It hasn't been driven since because it isn't a "priority". This year is different.

1964 Barracudas WERE Valiants. Just a sub model.

So.....if you had the choice between a rusty, parts '64 Valiant four-door and a '65 rusty, probably parts Barracuda which would you go for?

Barracuda.

Or both? I still want to do a 13b Barracuda.

With the '65 Barracuda weighing ~2700 with the six, I wonder what it would weigh with the 13b...

Still have that 13b and tranny?

Some would pronounce my '64 a parts car as it sits ...

I'd love to have a complete Valiant parts car to raid for it.

The Barracuda is undeniably sportier-looking. I'm not sure if it's really any more aerodynamic, but it looks it. And it's really not too impractical.

The aftermarket supports the Barracuda and two-door Valiants a bit better than it does the four-door sedans or wagons. Trim, bucket seat upholstery, etc. If you're not restoring it, the support is about the same.

Final Answer: Whichever is more complete/in better condition. I could have fun with either.

Did you buy it? If not, hook a brother up with the information??

...in the process and if I have any extra parts I don't need I'll get in touch. I know you're looking for a back window already.

Finally got it to the house Saturday night. Let me know what you need and I'll pull it. (Tried "contacting" you, but it got kicked back for some reason).

Slant: How bad is your Valiant?

Stan - the insurance adjuster was over and asked what happened. After chatting he said you know thats covered in your insurance? So it ends up that the car has been sitting three years for no good reason and the insurance company found a rear windscreen and had it shipped to a local window shop.

A good thing! Too bad you didn't find that out sooner. .

What kind of insurance do you have? (If I may ask).

You'll need to log in to post.
