Grease fittings.  Does any modern car have them anymore?
My old MGTD has them and since I've been greasing them since 1962 nothing they protect has worn out.

I got a 1985 Jaguar XJ6 That the previous owner had taken care of equally as well   I forget how many there are, 54? Pops to my head.  Probably wrong. But again. Nothing is worn out.
They are so simple. Wipe the nipple clean and squirt until the excess shows.
If the nipple is broken/ rusted etc. unscrew it and replace with a new one.  They are pretty universal. Straight, 90 degree 45 degree long short.
I've still got a box of each type I bought many decades ago.  Plus if they are still good? I pull them off and add them to my collection.

'16 Silverado has 2 fittings I forget to grease.

My dad showed me on my 1980 Datsun how to remove 2 plugs and thread in a grease fitting.  My '66 Datsun roadster had a dozen, like Where's Waldo.  Find the grease fitting.

I inherited a parts bin that my dad had and it was previously my grandfathers.  There are some fittings as he was a hands-on guy.

I've never used one and my kids will toss it all into a garbage or recycling bin.  This dies with me along with a lot of great stuff.  LOL

I do enjoy simplicity but I was a backhoe operator for 3 years when I was in my 20s. Every morning I would shoot a tube and a half of grease through 40+- grease fittings. It truly sucked. Fill the fuel tank, crank the tractor, and while the hydraulic oil was warming up grease all the fittings. 30 minutes later I'd be ready to go to work.  Skipping that step and getting caught operating a squeaking machine was grounds for dismissal.

Simple they may be, but that doesn't mean I like them or particularly want them over a modern joint. I may be a bit biased against them.

In reply to Toyman! :

Yeh!   doing it daily would be a real pain.  But it's a once a year deal for my collection.  A rainy day comes along and I do an oil change, grease job and tune up. Then spend the rest of the day putting on wax and then taking it off.   I love Blue Coral   But it's not for the lazy or weak.
Play my collection of cassette's where every 10 minutes I have to turn the caste over. Or put in a new one.  I like that level of control.  My reel to reel I can put a tape on and get 10+ hours out of it, but can't remain loyal to that much of one artist or type.
Once the shop is finished I'll bring my records down.  I've got a great turntable that myself and a buddy spent a whole pacific cruise fine tuning.  I didn't realize there were so many adjustments.
