There is a interesting article from racer about the best racecars of all time, mine are:
1.#98 GTP Gurney Toyota
2.1967 Eagle F1 Car wirh Gurney-Weslake V12
3.Indeck Panoz Champcar
4.BMW Art Car by Jeff Koons to race at Le Mans 24 hour
5.Paul Newmans Barbour Le Mans Porsche
I agree with your Gurney Eagle choice. I'd add the Ford GT40, Lotus 49, and the Ferrari 156 'Sharknose' F1 car from the early 1960s.

Although it looks better on the ground, even with airplane tirs on the front
And who can forget the interview afterwards, when they presumed that he could not make the next round:

One more, but there is no good pic that I know of that depicts the awesomeness.
The car is here:
And picture in your mind what it looked like after this:

This is what happens when the police become basically paramilitary.
During the race, Wintersteen was involved in an accident damaging the front of the car, thus requiring Guldstrand to drive his portion of the race with two flashlights taped to the fenders. The damaged radiator was replaced with one from a Corvette located in the spectator's parking lot. One can only imagine, the flashlights provided very little help! Guldstand was able to continue the race by following the taillights of the Ferrari Team Car and by doing so broke the GT record. The L-88 finished 1st. in the GT Class and placed 11th overall in the race.

I'm a big fan of the Gurney Eagle. I also really like early Brabham formula cars, though I can't name a specific model.

Don't be so shallow people!
The REAL beauty is under the hood.
I know they aren't "real" race cars... but vintage trans am style tin tops are awesome.
...does a race car that was never raced count?

I'm with you on this one.
The Group 44 Jaguar GTP car certainly deserves mention. For open wheelers, I'd favor many of the F1 cars, in the era just before wings and major sponsorships.

As a Spridget lover, this car has always been exciting to me.

One of my all time favorites.

Sorry, it's only a 1:12 Model but the only picture I had on Photobucket. The 1988-1993 McLaren MP4s are in the top five of my most beautiful. I love the simple livery and the simple profile of this era. Also the difference in size of F & R tires.
