A buddy has an MGB and a GT, also a Midget and a Spitfire. He was hot to stick a big motor in the GT; now he leans towards a restoration. He and I were discussing rotisseries and I realized I don't know all that much about them. So: thoughts, experiences, good brands, bad brands, worthwhile and useless features, average prices? I see the 'manual' ones around $800.00, the 'hydraulic' ones around $1150.00, and there are some with gearboxes and stuff even higher. We aren't planning to do a pro shop by any stretch of the imagination.

My neighbor built one to restore a '57 Chevy. It came out real nice. He had maybe a couple hundred dollars in it. He used it to paint the undercarriage and run wiring and brake lines. He didn't think it was that useful, and gave it to his son-in-law.

In my 914 non-club, guys will build them out of engine stands. You need to fab the mounts and connect the stands together, but the tubs are fairly light. You need to strip the body first, but it's doable.
