That 1600 SOHC Datsun motor was a great lump! The motors from the 240, 260, & 280Zs, Maximas, etc. were all based on it.

Now that I think about it, while growing up our neighbors had one of those wagons--well, the plane Jane version. Oddly we never had a wagon--probably the only family on Long Island without one.

grew up (and learned to drive) with a 1964 Pontiac Parisienne wagon (Canadian rebodied Chevy). Always had a "want" for a wagon, and for a time envisioned a 1990 era Buick Roadmaster, or Chev equivalent as a family car.

Instead we have a 06 Mazda 6 Wagon (5spd) ... which is both sporty, and practical. A 510 wagon would look real good in the driveway though...

Love 'em. We DD a '93 Volvo 940 turbo wagon. It has Bilsteins, big sways, and 16" wheels. Handles reasonably well for size, has a turning radius that cannot be believed, seats seven, carries five bicycles plus luggage, etc. It will fit an entire DRYER in the back. Not some apartment dryer but a REAL dryer. This is a car that can do almost anything. I can't ever sell it because it would take three cars to replace it.

Can't wait to have a wagon in the driveway again. I love them.

Hemmings just had a story on the Studebaker Wagonaire, with sliding top. Guy has a supercharged V8 that was an option for that year.

As a some day classic, you realize that Caddillac still makes the CTS-V wagon, I just built one on the web site. Man that's my lotto winning car.

Volvo Duetto or 122 wagon would be my real world choice.

My DD and cross-country cruiser was a 73 Impala station wagon for several years. Wagons rock. I replaced it with an E350 diesel van (which is just a taller wagon) for HD towing.

Mine would have been perfectly practical if I hadn't yanked the 454 and made it a 468 with some balls to it. I could easily nail down 9mpg

... and on a sidenote, if I had kept that wagon, I would have put a 6.5 diesel in it. It could have been a 30mpg tow monster, but someone offered me good money for it so I sold it.

If it weren't for the fact that someone offered me crazy money for it, I would have done it. I had it all planned out and then someone said "I'll give you $xxxxxxxxxxxxx dollars for it."

It was a lot of "x"s. I took it.

Wagons rock and need to make a comeback in the marketplace, SRSLY. I just bought my first new car ever and there were no traditional wagons from any manufacturer in my price range (sub $30k). Bought a sedan for the signifcant mpg advantage over a small ute and will be on the lookout for an older wagon for local hauling after I've saved some money back up.

Mom had a Volare Premiere wagon when I was a kid. They traded it in a few years before I got my license. I'd bring one home if I came across the right deal.

Mom's looked just like this one, but originally had the factory wire wheel covers. The wheel covers disappeared one night in the mall parking lot when the wagon was less than a year old.

My daily driver is this 1991 Audi 200 quattro 20V Avant. Looks cool, sounds awesome, drives well, over 250,000 miles and counting.

I love wagons...ever since my Mom's '66 Fairlane 500 in brown.

Right now, I have found a Mercedes 300 with a 383, and a '65 Comet with a K-code 289 with tri-power(!) and a 4 speed.

Am I allowed to drool over almost any Volvo wagon with a swapped in sbc or sbf?

If all goes according to plan, soon I'll have something along these lines to share with you guys.

Now if could have my '78 Malibu Classic, '98 Escort or even my parents' '72 Chevy Sportvan (technically a station wagon as it was a passenger model and was licensed as a car, not a truck) back...ah, the memories...
