First of all you guys really need to relax. Just to add, I did not really see any bashing by Tom. If you want bashing read my Porsche 944 buyers guide piece on the 924 Turbo, a terrible car to buy used for any amount of money. I am the biggest basher on staff and have no issue bashing as long as I am speaking from direct experience. Besides that what is the problem with bashing Consumer Reports or any other publication if you really feel they are incorrect. Hey when I am wrong about something you can bet I hear about it and not usually nicely.

Just to chime in as first someone who has owned almost all the cars you guys are talking about except for the S2000(No way I fit or would have owned one) and here is my actual day to day "experience" with the cars.

The Miata except for the very earliest cars are almost impossible to break and really have no issues. I had one and replaced no parts and have sent many people down the Miata road and not a single one has had an issue.

Second, I also question the Boxster reliability rating as that almost all of the 2.5 and 2.7 have had or according top all the Porsche experts, will have rear main seal leak issues often times major ones. This is not a minor fix. Also the parts prices for the Boxster are much in the same league as my DB7. I still love them but they are not the most reliable sports car built. I also replace a lot of window switches.

The Corvette was rated very well by CE and has been well rated since the introduction of the C5. Don't believe it then check out J.G.'s time with his old C5.

Finally I also am of the mind to take CR and J.D. Powers or anyone's survey info with a grain of salt. I have had a ton of cars that performed better than people say and some that were much worse.
