In reply to NOHOME:

Compared to my 1800ES, that's practically solid.

Well then Ian...If I get this bad boy home and decide it is NOT the answer to my twisted dreams, do you want to save a lot of time and take it off my hands?

I used to think the British stuff rusted bad, but the Swede stuff not only rust as bad, but is trickier to repair with less panel support from the vendors.

Purported to be rust-free, sandblasted and epoxy primed. I should probably not impulse buy stuff.

I suppose that would depend on what it is. To be honest, I can't tell from that picture. It doesn't look like any Volvo I'm familiar with.

The 1800 has reasonably good replacement panel support for a car with less than 50K produced over 12 years.

Anyway... I see at least an resemblence of rocker sills... so you're doing better than me. Granted, my car was advertised on eBay as being very rusty, so I knew what I was buying. However, if I knew then (I bought the car in 2006) what I know now, I wouldn't have taken it apart. I would have riveted some quick home center metal over the big holes and kept driving it. The car ran great when I bought it. Oh well... it'll be a long-term project.

Sure looks like a Volvo P1800ES to me!

Ooh, that looks cool. I could even drop my kids of at grandma's on the way.

But at $495, it is too pricey for me.

Thanks for posting it though!

Huh... what part of the car is the rusty picture of? I don't remember a seam like along any of the panel lines.

As far as buying it? Perhaps. Your profile doesn't indicate your location.

The welding class is interesting... it would be a 1500 mile round-trip drive for me... but I have some vacation time to burn before the the end of the year... ...and could swing by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on the way home...

The webpage is a bit light on specifics... what level of welding experience would be expected for this class?

Details are hard to find on that site.

I did come across this bit:

The first day focuses on general skills and welding, with hands-on time for welding instructions.

So no experience necessary?

If you want a home cooked meal as you are passing through give me a shout!

You'll need to log in to post.
