I got an unexpected call out of the blue from the local shop I use, great guys, easy to work with. My first thought was to wonder if I had forgotten and left one of the cars there. They are working on an Audi and thought I might have connections finding a part that is NLA, so you guys are my connections so here we go:
Does anyone know if place to source a mount play for a coil spring that sits on the control arms for a 2002 Audi A8 L 4.2 V8? Part number is 4D0512297E. I guess the guy's coil spring broke in a couple of places and the mounting plate is just held in by the pressure and so it disappeared on the road somewhere.
Gotta be new? If not, I'd be checking car-part.com to find a wrecking yard with one. Looks like quite a few a8/s8's out there.

Not new, no. Car-part was my plan, too, if nothing came up after poking around online. I'm not sure how internet search familiar they are, some of these guys are getting up in years, so I thought maybe I'd find something obvious, but no.

Hey, hey, hey ... I resemble that remark...
I was just on eBay and it looks like there are some there. Search without the part number.

Would you mind sending what you've found? I haven't been able to scare up any on there.

Well man thank you for the lead, unfortunately that looks like it's for the fronts. In any event, it looks different. Thanks again for checking, though.

When searching for the part number, remove the letter at the end. That is typically a revision for the part and will limit your chances of finding the part.
This might be what your looking for Auction site link

Audi is kind of weird with their part numbers. The letter sometimes means a supersession and sometimes it means another part in the general vicinity.

That's good to know, and helps explain why the part number, but different letter was an upper rather than lower mount.
