Wow... I'd have thought to borrow from your example that crankshaft speed variance limits would be a thing that would have a sane factory default they're reverted to, not just the first thing they see after first start... Aigh!
I need an OBD2 best practices 101, apparently.

Well crud.. I'll be careful. It has been clearing on its own at times. It even did the flsding light, then went away
Clearing on its own is fine... that is when it passes the internal tests enough times. You lose no adaptives, it's just the computer noting that there is no longer anything wrong (as far as its programming can see, anyway)
Drove a newer Hyundai into the building tonight. Running fine. Flashing MIL, which means "there is a catalyst damaging event SHUT ENGINE OFF NOW". But it was running fine. Am a little happy that it will be somebody else's problem, as I am elbow deep in the world's nicest 1989 Miata right now, and then have a ZF transmission to replace (Y U use ZF, Honda?) and then an oil pan in a V10 Ford... and by the time that is done, LKQ may have the *third* transmission for a Mopar delivered to me...

Used transmissions and engines scare me. It's like a grenade without a pin
