Well...expect it to be $22K after you replace the brakes.
Oh, and another $500 for rear tires, they go through them like NASCAR fans go through Bud Light.

CTS-V was on my radar back in February when I got my GTO but I never could find an unmodified car. When I went to Atlanta to pick up the GTO, the dealership had a "stock' CTS-V but I had already made the decision to go with the GTO. I have no regrets. I took my mom for a drive today; she was the one who warped me at a young age when she was driving Buick Wildcats and Riviera's. I had her screaming with its non-TC starts. The GTO is obviously a non-GM build quality; Australians do better in design and construction than Americans. The only thing so far that has made me question its design was the need to remove the rear tail light to replace the brake bulb. I do agree that cars like these are going away as being politically incorrect. Buy now and protect a way of life.

From their site: "By allowing the axle bars to torsionally twist at different rates the result is traction, not wheelhop". From what I've seen on CTS forums, this fix works. The axles cost $1700, but the axles are good up to 1000hp. Bob
This was GMs fix for the new body style too iirc.
I guess torque steer isn't an issue if it's the back of the car? This is the whole reason if I recall correctly, that FWD cars (the good ones) try to have equal length halfshafts- to eliminate torque steer?
I'd think there would be some repercussions for the unequal diameter.
Watching a video of Andy Pilgrim racing the last coupla years in speed world challenge will take any doubt outta ya. i dont care how far they are from street, i want!
(so you should to)

That sucks. In my '07 I've been repeatedly getting 36mpg doing 80mph 500 miles a week. Flappy paddle gear box and all.
Buy the CTS-V and stock up on tires. Epic burn-outs.
My buddy's mom had a normal CTS and the windshield had stress cracks in the top corners. It was covered with the warranty; just something to watch for.
I don't even do burnouts or donuts in my Trans-Am, what would make me do it in a car I drive everyday? I baby my cars, but when actually racing them (legally) i beat the piss out of them. I learned the hard way that replacing things because of how you drive is not only not-fun, but takes money out of my pocket. And like I said, my commute is not to far, the guy just put new pads on the car, and so on. He seems like one of those really meticulous people that would take the car to the dealer for any minor complaint, which is good I guess, means he took care of it. Had all the service records on hand.
Fit will be gone in the morning, and I'll know if I got approved for the loan, then should have V by the end of the day or Tuesday.
I do this every time one of these threads comes up, but before you commit to a loan check out Pentagon Federal Credit Union - 3.99% loan for 60 months new or used is a great rate...
I have an 05 V and most of the comments are about accurate. The interior is plastic-y for a luxury car but considering what they sell for now I'm able to live with it. The fragility of the diff may be a bit exaggerated but 4k clutch dumps are a genuinely bad idea; 60 foot times are not the car's strong suit and frankly massive axle tramp makes it a poor burnout machine. The radiators are known to leak as well and I had mine replaced under warranty. The brakes are absolutely stellar, though, and it handles the curves better than a machine its size should. Of course the torque is nice. I've seen freeway mileage as good as 27 and as bad as 22. It's a fantastic road trip machine and freeway cruiser. It's surprisingly easy to work on, too.
I will say, though, that if you have ANY intention of using it for competition find one without a sunroof. I'm 5-10 and when racing my helmet is always in contact with the headliner (mine does have the sunroof). It's just an annoyance in autocross but it would probably really suck in a rollover situation.
Lol this thing is gonna be the ultimate cruiser, no intention of autox, track days, etc. I've got two other cars to do that (T/A and Civic). I need something with style, power, capacity to seat four, fit golf clubs and cooler in the back, and still badass.
I'm not usually a fan of overpowered battleships, but GO FOR IT! Holy crap that's cheap!
BTW you have to do track days at least. Just haul it around the corner until it's pointed at the next one, step on the gas, repeat...

Actually for how large the brakes are the parts are pretty cheap. When I was considering buying one (still am for the future) I hoped on to Rock Auto and found basic pads for $35 front or rear and ACDelco rotors for $75 a piece.
Its gonna be one of those things that, especially if you now have the means, if you don't pull the trigger, it'll be one you'll regret for a long time.

Golf is what happens when your imagination dies.

Wow, we really ripped people off at the dealer hahaha. It was a solid $2K for a full V brake job.
If you're single, why do you need a big 4 door sedan? For that money, I'd get a Vette or maybe the GTO.
Why....you don't see them all over....I love Cadillacs.....golf is something i do to get drunk and relax, I play at the $15 courses, not the $150 ones....gas powered golf carts + alcohol + sub par golf course = golf cart drifting......Finally got rid of the Fit yesterday, once the title is officially transfered and I have the tag I'll go get the caddy. Guy is holding on to it for me. I do love GTOs and this ad for one really made me want to buy one even more, but like I said I love Cadillacs.

Let me just say: as happy as that phrase makes me when it comes from Clarkson's mouth, it's even better in print. Thank you.
The ad's been done. It was originally for a nissan Xterra, now modified for the GTO. I think I'd boycott the car just for lack of originality in advertising.
