I'm looking at an '06 Cayenne S. 96,000 on the clock. $20K. I don't know a darn thing about these. Am I a sucker at that price?

School me.

Man that seems like a lot to pay to buy a near 100k mile VW product with Porsche replacement part costs. It may be what it's worth but I would think real hard about joining that party.

Pricing seems strong on that one. $20k will buy a clean and maintained Cayenne s with more like 60k miles.

Interested in this thread. How are these Cayennes as they age? How do they compare with the average aging German money-pit? As bad as the BMW 7-series, for example?

Seriously? Talk about depreciation!

Check the carrier bearing on the rear driveshaft. They are a common fail point and can only be replaced with the entire shaft. $1000.

Check the cardan shafts, make sure the coolant pipes have been replaced with updated metal ones and make sure the coil packs have been replaced.

If you're willing to spend $20k, you can get the twin turbo cayennes for that much...

A friend of mine had one. It said it was a great tow vehicle for cars and boats. Put over 200,000 miles on it. I did drive it once, taking a pair of jet ski's to the lake. Towed great!
He did complain that the FOB on a KIA worked better and did more things.

I have an 08 and the fit of the interior is worse than my old IS300. I am not talking about materials, I am talking about electronics acting up, sunroof lines leaking into the cabin, HVAC noises (clunks bubbling and high pitched squeals), creaks and rattles. Other problems I have experienced are fuel pump replacement, subwoofer/amp replacement from sunroof leak, head light replacement due to seals leaking.

Don't get me wrong I really like it. Best thing I have ever driven in the snow, and in general a ton of fun to drive.

Several months ago we discussed getting something else but they are not very easy to sell and the dealer only offered $16k for trade in.
