I was wondering if anyone knew if it's possible to install a Holley 4412 two barrel carb on the stock '85 Mustang 302 CFI intake manifold?

The base of the carb and CFI look to be VERY similar although I haven't removed the CFI yet. Looked around on the net for some pics of the CFI base/manifold top or even a pic of the CFI-to-manifold gasket to compare it to the carb-to-manifold gasket, but no luck so far.

Thanks for any info !

So, you found the very last CFI Ford on the planet. Congrats! I owned one of the, like, six TBI V8 Dakotas ever built, so I know your pain.

As to your question, Not a clue.

Well . . . ya !

Just a little Mustang GT with the 302 and AOD. Bought it for the drive line. Runs swell, shifts good. I don't have the knowledge to retain the CFI/control box/distributor plus I guess that they all have a not too terrific reputation so I'm gonna run the 2 bbl with a '68 Mustang distributor. Hoping to not have to swap the intake for an aftermarket and 4 bbl. Especially so since I sold the Edelbrock and Holley last year.

If I can keep the engine all together as-is and just swap the carb in place (with or without an adapter) it would make it as easy as can be.

Don't think so.

Most everybody just put a regular 4bbl on them with an aod bracket.

And if the carb is the deal get a 2bbl. intake, or turn over a 4 to 2 Spacer on a 4bbl. intake, Or weld/bolt same spacer to the intake you Have but why stress heck those Intakes should be around for less than 50 bucks

I'm not sure on the bolt pattern either but my father owned a '85 Merc with the 5.0 and it had the same TBI. From what I remember it sure looked like the same pattern as a Ford/Holley 2bbl carb.

I pulled up a 85 Mustang 5.0 on rock auto and checked what cars the throttle body gaskets fit (click the part number), based on the long list of 70s Ford products that came up I'd guess that you're right about a carb fitting the manifold.

BrokenYugo—Thanks for doing that ! Never thought of good 'ol Rock Auto as a resource for this . . .

The bolt pattern and holes looked the same(ish) but wasn't sure. I didn;t want to oull the CFI unit until I'd measured everything up to make sure that the height on the TV linkage/cable on the CFI was positioned the same as it would be on the carb. I hear that this is a very important thing to be careful of as it seems to be easy to ruin the AOD if the TV cable setting is off just a little bit.
