Just popped up on local CL. Didn't real know I needed them, but maybe I do How bad could this be? I am not familiar with the spinning rotor engines. Thoughts? What are they really worth? Thanks guys as always.

For $1500, buy them and figure out if you want them later.

Yeah, for that price you can't go wrong. The black one looks a little scruffy, but that silver one looks CLEAN.
Go for it, with any luck the one with the "blown engine" could be a simple cleaning away from having 2 running FB's
Sex on wheels. Shame about the sunroofs. If anything swap a miata engine in the one with a blown motor. Lol
The black one is a GSL-SE, that alone is worth the price, 13b EFI, Disc brake LSD rear end, 114.3x4 stud pattern, better brakes, and definitely collectable.
Hard to tell what the other one is, but all GSL have a sunroof, the LSD and 4 discs, but they have the 110x4 stud pattern.
Non sunroof cars are base models.
Nice package, hell I would take the GSL-SE off your hands.

Ever since I found out that those two motors shared bellhousing patterns etc. I've been wanting to put a turbo rotary in a Miata.
On topic: You really do need to buy those. If you're lucky you'll get to rebuild an engine I loved rebuilding my 13b. I bought the DIY-RE video set and bought a kit from Atkins rotary. Good stuff.
How it works: animation
get there with $$$ asap That is a steal. If I was closer, I'd already be at the ATM.
I had two exactly like those. I wish I'd never opened this thread now. I feel very sad
Thanks for all the input guys. Trying to setup a time tomorrow to take a look see. Spoke with owner today. Both cars having been sitting for about 2 years. He states the blue one is dirty, and doesn't look quite as good as it does in the pic, but could with a little elbow grease. He states it runs but has bad rotor. The black one he was driving a few years ago, States it basically needs a new battery and new gas and it will run, though it does smoke when you first start it, then it goes away. Has to sell both cars since he isn't able to store them any longer an he isn't going to get them done any time soon. Sounds like $1200 will buy the pair. Hope to see them both tomorrow. Will keep you posted.

If they don't run, you can easily part them out for much more money. I have been looking for a rear axle out of the black one for a while.
I'd buy them both, sell the GSL as is and enjoy my now $600ish GSL-SE.
I was thinking that the blue one looks pretty clean. It would be good candidate for a 302 while taking the axle and hubs from the black one. Part out what is left and you have a really really fun car for challenge money.
Yes, you really do need them. Like the flower needs the rain, you know you need them.
I would post something but it looks you all had posted what I was going to say, so I'm just going to leave this here instead...
Seller is calling the black car a "GXL." It might just be wearing GSL-SE wheels.

Either way, drag them home. Make the black one run, sell it for the $ you have in the project, invest that in the blue(?) one and enjoy a free classic (iconic?) sports car for a couple years. Sell later and have fond memories for all your days.
