Took one for a drive today that had less than 45k on it. I now have so much want for one of these. I have driven many large MB of the same vintage and this car is just better. I can't say exactly why but it just has that feel and feedback that the MBs seem to lack.

I am sold. I am off to search Craig's list.

A 740i sport or XJR are both on my short list for the spring when I sell the Miata. Both are available for $5k for less in good condition.

Mechanic friend of mine bought one at an auction for $1100(canadian),car is super clean and looks well maintained.

Did some basic service and I think thats all it needed for safety, been dd for about a yr now no serious problems.

Super jealous.

I think what made the one I drove so nice was the low mileage. It was supper tight and really clean. It is owned by an older gent that comes to the shop regularly but it is usually with a Volvo of the same vintage. I picked up the BMW from his house leaving my car there and brought it to the shop for new ball joints. One was bad so both were replaced and I put it on the alignment machine and then took it for a test drive and returned it to him.

I told him that if he ever decides to sell/trade his car to let me know.

It was really cool to drive the car as it really was almost like it was when new.

Great touring cars but the maintenance and repair bills can be staggering. At this age they are all ready to need a transmission overhaul and timing chain replacement on top of the usual list of maintenance items.
