I'll leave it off, then. It's not something that will make enough of a difference to make it worth the hit to the budget at FMV.
I did find a better motor that will drop right into my car, so I might just do an engine swap.

I have an odd question. I haven't found anything restricting (or allowing) any specific type of fuel. Obviously, gasoline and diesel are the two usual suspects, and I see rules involving nitrous oxide. Normally, rules are there to enforce silly things like not running hydrazine, or potentially disastrous things, like not plumbing the carb with a O2 tank (although that would be great if it didn't ever get in a fire, oxygen is a great oxidizer, ya know), but nitromethane (small percentages people), methanol, ethanol, E85 etc are actual real alternatives.
Any guidelines? Hasn't anyone ever asked this before now (yes, I have searched)? -Brian

I remember the "Torqueless Rotards" FB RX-7 wreck in a LeMons race when a stud failed, and we all saw the PBR Sentra's accident at the '09 Challenge. I can't see any performance advantage replacing studs would give. Although they're cheap, every little bit helps if we can exclude them from the budget.
It wasn't the PBR Sentra (the red and white one was mine!) I believe it was the gray TearoffGuys Sentra.

No problem.
I like the idea of counting wheel studs as a safety item (and not against the budget). The '09 Challenge was not the only time a wheel has come off at the Challenge.
I found this pik of my nephew changing the starter before the challenge , this was the wheel that came off , I will make sure of the wheel safety issues we had in 09 are a thing of the past . The trophy we got would not be worth anything if someone was hurt " />

The raffle was open to the whole model-specific forum, so I would see this as something that could be counted as price payed, which would be what I payed for the raffle ticket plus shipping.
I'm pretty sure that you're responsible for paying taxes on such winnings and the taxes would be based upon the item's MSRP, not the cost of the ticket.
I have a question about using a car and how it will affect my budget. My car was totaled by a lady who ran a red light and I am having trouble getting any money from her. My question is If I buy the car back for $500 (or whatever they want for my totaled car) can I use the $500 price for my budget?
I am thinking yes...
Another possibility (heaven forbid) I don't get any money and all I have is a totaled car... In this case would it be considered free in the budget?
I don't know... I'm taking the life gives you lemons make lemonade approach on this whole situation.
Thanks!
Salvage value or fair market value, which ever is lower. By salvage, I mean what you'd pay the insurance company for it.
I'm still waiting on the pdfs of the entry forms. Damn magazine is getting in the way of our events.
Ok thanks thats what I thought! Let the magazine get in the way, I love it, and cant wait for the next one in the mail!
Per, would a Tri Magnum be allowed in the special class? Don't think it would meet any SCCA class since it's a three wheeler.
While looking for some plans for a tow dolly, I came across my Tri Magnum book and prints from back in the 80's. Bought them from Quincy Lynn when it was featured in Mechanix Illustrated.
Parts pricing problem, I work in a bmw shop, my boss found he could purchase a complete belt tension swivel assembly for much less than the cost of just the pulley, since the pulleys fit several different applications we have been scrapping a ton of the swivel assembly's. Being a thrifty pack rat I kept a few of said assembly's and have found a use for them in a shift linkage of a challenge car. How do I price these things? Picture of assembly below.
The same shop occasionally performs 5 speed swaps, of course the automatic pedal assembly's go to scrap, again I've found a use for the swivel part of the brake pedal, how do I price these?
Scrap pricing is exactly what I was hoping to hear, if anyone complains I have several spare swivels I'll be happy to sell them by the pound.
I was just checking out the 2010 rules (http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/events/2010-challenge/rules/) and they came out all funky. I don't know if it was MS Exploder but I had to copy them into MS Word to read them.
FWIW I'm kinda stoked that a scratch built A-Mod could compete in the "special" class and wouldn't need windshield / horn / turn-signals / etc. Harkens back the first $1,500 Challenge with the two classes!
