I bought it (mostly because it was really cheap) to go vintage racing, but it's going to realistically be at least a year or two before I get to it. So I started thinking about what other engine/trans might drop in without having to hack it up and get it driveable. First thought was miata, but bmw? volvo? s10/gm v6? 1st gen sportage with boost? Guess it depends what I can nab on the cheap for a donor.

Wow. You're pretty observant. I was just showing off the fact that the bottom of the car looks better than the top right now. You have mail, sir.
My ex had a 02 ws6.. I think I have spent more time under a fbody than in my own bed lol.. I was going to compliment you on the cleanness lol.. kinda made me jealous.

^ I will park next to you for sure, thats sick!
No photos right now, but my 3rd-gen Firebird just ran and was able to move backward and forward in the garage in the past week. Time for bodywork and wiring. With a little luck, we'll have more than a day or two to sort the car out before the challenge this time around.

Thanks. I'm having fun, but it's sometimes frustrating....I never really worked on cars much, so every step of the process is new to me.
The sheetmetal on it came from two water heaters, a file cabinet, a washing machine, a box fan, a washing machine stand, and an upright freezer.

I just sent you a PM. If your profile on this site has a valid email address, it will be sent to that address. Check your email address, and respond if you get it.

Coming back in 2011 - got everything I need to build another motor. The current one has a rather large hole in it.
In reply to Karl La Follette: Is that going to be an eVil alliance?

It should be arriving at your yahoo account that starts with "rollin". Send me an email if you need help.
I ended up changing plans motor-wise for the Z. I'm going to be running a turbo 280zx motor with some goodies. Megasquirt, T3/T04 turbo, 440cc injectors, FMIC, and some other stuff. Looking to make 300-350hp to the wheels. 2400lbs after some weight reduction makes for a pretty potent car. Hoping I can get it up and running in the next week and a half. Then I must practice AutoX for the rest of the summer.
I'm hoping my teammate from last year is building again this year. I won't be able to build my own AGAIN (sigh). It's a shame because I have the car, but not the work space and dollars to put it all together.
Were are you going to practice autocrossing we have a heck of a time finding a old lot that they will allow us to use.

I just started the toughest part, at least for me: Shopping for a car
hopefully I will make it down there again this year...

I was going to hit up some of the local AutoXes. I've never done it before so it will be an experience. The problem is I'll be learning my car as well as how to AutoX.
