Hey y'all,
Now that this project is clearly off the ground, I thought I'd start a build thread. I'm aiming to have this thing moving under it's own power in time for the BABE rally, so I've certainly got my work cut out for me yet.
Here's the build blog: http://www.littlelamborghini.com
What is it? 1986 Ford Escort with a '99 Contour Zetec engine in the front, and a '97 Lincoln Continental 4.6L 32V V8 in the back. All held together with roll cage, hopes, and dreams.
So as you can see, both motors are currently int the car, but hardly anything is hooked up yet. Updates as they happen at littlelamborghini.com, and on here when I think about it.

Could you say that into my good ear?
Godspeed . Awesome if it is pulled off!

How are you going to balance the wheel speed? Might be a dumb question, but with different engines, transmissions and likely gear ratios... just seems like the wheels would spin different?
Good grief. That is quite a car.

I was thinking the same thing Brad- Honestly wondering why bother with the Zetec at all......
Remove the axles and use the 4 cylinder to turn a supercharger and the exhaust from both to spin a huge turbo, both feeding the V8. Compound charging FTMFW!!

No need to balance it, the road does that. There is only one mechanical connection between the two engines....the road. Not like a normal AWD/4x4 rig with two mechanical connections (transfer case/center diff and the road).

When maintaining traction it shouldn't matter. Each end doesn't really know or care what the other is doing, it just has an easier or harder time pushing. Now when you are on the edge of your corning or acceleration limits it will probably make for some interesting dynamics.
the only thing that would make me nervous is watching for 2 independent redlines, high temp, oil press drop etc...

What Nashco said. BUT, as a torque balancing tool, I've got fly-by-wire throttle which has adjustments for slope and offset for it's position versus the Zetec throttle. I'm using the Zetec TPS for input to the servo controller for the Ford fly-by-wire throttle bolted to the Zetec. Here's a demonstration of it working on a bench.
The h-bridge has since been replaced and we've changed the way the servo is being driven (only one way with mech spring return) which cuts out the annoying whining heard in the video.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Yeah - the rev limit on the Zetec actually cuts both motors, as to prevent the V8 from overdriving it.
Here's a video of the HUD that is currently only working in my living room but will be projected off of polarized film adhered to the inside of the windshield:

You're insane. I commend you.

The HUD is friggin AWESOME!!!!! I'm sending you a PM...
DOOD SWEET! So much awesomeness in this car!
In reply to Conquest351:
For whatever reason I don't get PM's via this board (weird?) but you can email me moore at ciholas dot com
