So here it is, just days before the Challenge, and I've finally gotten the transmission shifting well enough to attempt a "high speed" V8 power test. Got her up to about 60mph on the free way, dialed in the V8 throttle and mashed the gas, opening wide both engines. The effect is much akin to what I imagine lighting a rocket fastened to the top of the car with bailing wire would be like. That is to say, while there is an apparent and immediate availability of thrust, you're not entirely certain where that thrust is going to send the car. While forward seems to be the direction all the vectors more-or-less average to, there is the constant sensation that the car is going to lift off the ground, or make an immediate turn into a forest. Or directly off a cliff Wyle E. Coyote style.
