"According to a release issued by Ford Motor Company, the 2017 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang, the Shelby GT350R Mustang and the new high performance Ford Focus RS are all sold out around the world, more than three months before the 2017 calendar year arrives – although that doesn’t mean that you can’t buy one from your local dealership."
Many of those orders were on spec from the dealers (who want to charge ADM, of course), so some should still be available. But I'm still glad I got mine, especially since I paid sticker for it.
(Yeah, I still have my old plate on it. I'm planning to order a new one next week.)
The Focus RS selling out is not terribly surprising since some of the 2016 Focus RS orders were moved to 2017 orders due to manufacturing issues in Europe, which when combined with the interest in the cars increasing should equal a complete sellout.
Hopefully Ford will tighten up their production and logistics issues. There are still people who ordered last October that have yet to receive their cars and more than a few have moved on to other vehicles.
I still find it weird that a 2017 cat can be sold as such, before the year arrives.

I'm sure you have something in mind, and I wouldn't suggest you change that, but if I had an RS, I'd get the license plate DOUBT.
Because when in DOUBT, flat-out...
I don't remember which of you suggested it, but I'm going with THE FORS. Then I'll get a custom frame that says "May" on the top and "Be With You" on the bottom.

Dammit, I'm going to do that on mine!
Though it depends on what is available here in Orygun :)
Don't you go stealing my stripe idea though. That one I'll keep under my hat
You mean this stripe idea?
I was seriously considering it before I got my car, but once I saw how beautiful it is stock I decided to leave it that way, at least for now.
In reply to jstein77:
NOPE!
My plan is safe....for now
Now, dude where's my car?
Somewhere in the middle of the country, I assume. Hope it gets to you soon.
I just went back into history to find who first suggested THE FORS. It was snailmont5oh.
Sure, here maybe :)
Dealer emailed and said its still at the MODCenter in Newark with a date of TBD :/
Jerry,
I'm sure you're aware by now, but there's been a recall issued for an issue with the rear hatch release. It requires an update to the BCM. Unfortunately the fix hasn't been released yet, so all the cars that haven't been delivered are waiting for the fix and those delivered will need to be recalled.
At this point, I'm cancelling my order and I'll be shopping for something else. Hopefully whoever buys the car I ordered, will enjoy it.
They use that word "sold-out". I don't think it means what they think it means
For the record, I knew this because I looked at them on Sunday.
In reply to Flight Service:
I think they're using sold out in the sense of Ford isn't building any more that don't already have a known home. Some of those are going to dealers, but there aren't any more to order.

...at least until Ford figures out how to squeeze a bit more capacity out of whatever is the limiting factor.
Part of me has a serious want for a GT350 and I could make it happen if I tried, but the more logical part reminds me of how many other projects I need to finish before spending $60k on a car... maybe in '20 I can buy myself a proper midlife crisis car for my 50th birthday.
Locally all of the GT350-R allocations that I heard of were dealer cars and not customer cars and were ordered so that a huge $$$$$$ markup could be applied. They were having a hard time getting people to agree to the $40-50k markup they wanted before the cars were built. I haven't heard if the cars actually sold, I'll have to ask.
I know that Yellow one on the link I posted is still available.
Ford knows if a car is on the lot and what sold-out means. The only way these are masked is if the dealer bought them.
I think something is afoot

Maybe it bears repeating: dealers are not the manufacturer. So when a manufacturer says a model is sold out, they mean dealers have bought all of the cars they planned to produce for a given model year. Whether or not dealers have already sold those cars is not entirely their problem. Yes, they care, but mainly out of concern unsold cars would reduce the orders for the next model year.
Manufacturers know if a vehicle is on the Dealer's lot. I used to sit at work at a Tier 1 and see the same reports everyone else did. I knew average lot times, expected days inventory on hand and everything else.
You can repeat dealers are not the manufacturers, but the phrase "sold-out" means just that, all cars are sold. Not all production has stopped.
The GT350, oof, it sounds good.
Apropos of nothing.

Did you go the RallyX like a month ago in St. Lucie? If so nice driving.
Also this only means that dealers have placed all the allotted orders for their production run of 2017. Doesn't mean you can't go grab one for $3k mark-up on MSRP.
Here is an RS available in NC. $275 off ...well...after a $5k market adjustment. It's stealth gray.
Hillbish Ford Focus RS

Why would you want to do that? Every car is sold, most of them at a premium. And there's still demand.
I'm happy about that.
I'm sure the limiting factor isn't because cars can't be made. There are other reasons, which make me happy. (yea, not most of you. but I'm good with it)
Whew. This is a load off my mind. I don't want them getting into the hands of commoners. It dilutes the impact of my entrance if everyone is stepping out of Ford GTs at the club. When I smugly tell the porter to fetch my automobile, I would be mortified if he has to say "Which one?" It is bad enough that it's a Ford and not a Lincoln GT but if there were two of them at the same endangered species tasting? I couldn't live with myself.

No, the Daytona autocross has been my only competition event so far with it. I don't plan to rallycross it; too low for that, I think.
Sebring autocross is coming up this Sunday. I'm very much looking forward to that.
