Ms. drove the RAV 4 about 10 miles with the gas cap not in the filler spout
Check Engine Light and AWD Not Functioning See you Dealer Error Message
Runs, Starts, Drives
See dealer, or buy a cheap code reader and clear codes
MS is concerned
With a definite likely cause like that, I'd check it, note the codes, and clear it. If it pops up again when the gas cap has not been left off, check the codes and look for the fix. On these modern vehicles it seems they can't just throw a check engine light. They have to get the entire dash lit up like a disco ball.
In reply to gunner (Forum Supporter) :
A lot of systems will throw their hands up and nope out of functionality if there's a fault code in the PCM/ECM.
Usually they only do this if there is a drivability related code, like a misfire. The stability control cannot function correctly if the engine is not running correctly, so the ABS will fault, and you get the usual triumvirate of ABS lights (ABS, stability, and traction).
Hondas are the worst for this... get a misfire and literally everything will fault and you get a complete Christmas tree on the dash as well as ten or so error messages in the driver display.
It's a little unusual for an evap code to cause this, but weirder things can happen.
If you clear the engine computer fault, the other computers MAY not automatically go back to normal. Depends on how ornery it feels like being that day.
Re: the OP: Clear it yourself (after reading them to make sure it's just the P0455 or P0-loose-gas-cap that you expect, and yes that's a code that sets if there is a leak right after a refueling event, and I can't remember the number) and if you still have the other lights and can't read those systems, start and idle the engine three times and see if they go away by themselves.
Buy a cheap code reader and reset the code and see if it comes back. We have an '06 Rav4, the original coil packs were famous for failing, and when that happened, it triggered a CEL, AWD, and VSC (Stability Control) light. As Pete mentioned, everything is so intertwined that a small failure can trigger a cascade of systems not working.
Cheap Code Reader on the way
I betcha the cruise control will not function, either. Toyota and Subaru, amongst others, shut everything off when there is an engine code.
We have OBDII Cable and Lap Top
What Software might we obtain?
Thanks

You could try TechStream the bootlegged version of Toyota Diag Software. I say try because what I'm sending you to is what I use on my 2008 Prius and is older tech. I'm not sure how that tech will work on 2018. Works great on 2008 Prius.
This version runs of Windows XP. They don't make, and no one hardly has a working XP computer, so step one is to load up a "virtual computer-Hypervisor" onto your modern/current computer so that it can run this old, XP based software.
Here is a link to a Toyota Land Cruiser owners detailed instructions for free download: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/how-to-techstream-in-5-minutes.1034923/
IT'S A MIRACLE -- IT HEALED ITSELF
CEL and AWD Failure Error Message -- CLEARED ITSELF after 100 miles of travel.
Not certaian I now what happened/
But it went away
If it was an error from the gas cap, once you fixed the problem and cycled it a few times the light goes away. The AWD / 4WD lights on Toyotas sometimes have nothing to do with the drive train but is an error code for another issue.
