Sorry for the radio silence, I've been on the road a ton and stupid busy.  Last week I was in Denver from Tue-Thur, landed in Atlanta and drove straight to Kentucky for Lemons race.  Worked that and got home at 12:30am last night.  I leave again Thursday for the next Lemons race.

Anyway, I absolutely hate to do it, but I have to pull the plug on this.  I don't want to sit here making a bunch of dumb excuses and wind up sounding like and ass.  Lots of moving parts for me.  The upshot of it is that it'd be a lot of financial input to build it, for a very uncertain future with it.  Dudefladge hinted at it above, but he's a racing friend of mine and is going to assume majority ownership of the car.  He's got his own Lemons team and the car is going to be the second team car.  I will be a partner in it, but he will have majority control.  So I'm not completely abandoning the project, the goal is for my wife and son to drive it at Barber in Feb 2023.  However, given how much uncertainty has risen about Road Atlanta for me, it just doesn't make sense to go this route.

I apologize if I messed up anyones plans, and can't thank you guys enough for volunteering to do this.  The GRM community is fabulous and I am proud to be part of it.

Dudefladge still does need a usable 4AGE...

Better to let us know sooner than later, I remember there were a couple other potential PLB candidates, now the position has been freed up...

Makes me sad but I do understand.

I finally got the compression numbers.

Cylinder 1

Cylinder 2

Cylinder 3

Cylinder 4

They all stabilized around 120psi. 2-4 hit 120psi in a few compression strokes and stayed there. Cylinder 1 took a stroke or two more to hit 120psi and stayed there. Factory specs want more in the 150 range, but this engine is tested cold after sitting for over a year.

I'd love to drive Barber someday too.

That said I'm no longer in for hoist, tools and a table.  I'm also thinking of pulling the plug.  Anyone want an MR2?  I'd rather work on my Subaru and race on dirt.  I think I really wanted to do the challenge 22 years ago.  Now, I'm not so sure.

I can drag the original PLB AWII to the hotel and let you have another shot at it. I have a running 2zz with the transmission attached just sitting here waiting to be installed. devil

Uh, you can't just say things like that and then expect me to be able to move on with my life.

If anyone wants to do a challenge MR2 contact me.  If we work with the organizers I'm willing to sell my car, spot all parts, and the budget sheet.  Move quick.  I don't think I'm going for a variety of reasons.

The only provision in the rules that applies to what you're saying is for previous Challenge cars.  Just trying to make it easy for you but in a case like this you sell it for what you want and that's the new owners budget.

Yes but I can sell the car, and all the recoup parts on separate receipts per my understanding of the rules.  I can sell the car as is pretty much ready to go for the correct amount and all of the recoup a lot of which is FMV and kept (because MR2 parts are rare) could be totaled separately.  I also kept the parts because someone may want to restore this car.

You can sell it however you like. There's nothing in the rules that addresses this situation.

What's all done to it? Maybe there's a build thread I've missed? Pictures, pricing, location?

Robbie, I love you, but sometimes I wonder how I can rig up a water bottle to spritz you remotely when you're making decisions.

Where are you located? I hope to go pick up the car this coming weekend (driving over from Fayetteville, NC). If you're down in Florida I don't see me being able to come get it. Your 2018 PLB car looks SOOO tempting... It runs... and has a title... :-)

He is in Gainesville. Roughly 7 hours from Fayetteville one way. Easy weekend pickup. DO IT!

What wound up happening to the original NA motor with the blown head gasket from the 2018 build? That engine might be a good option as well to replace the cracked crank motor in this car now...

Hi Dudefladge-all the MR2 threads seem to be blending together. I believe you are referring to my car, which is the subject of another thread. It is in Gainesville Florida. 32606. Message me through the board if you would like more info.

I just shot you a message. SKJSS (formerly Klayfish) and I need to discuss the car... I was actually inquiring about the motor you did the compression test on. I assumed it was planned for the aborted PLB... Thanks.
