Chip Ganassi's organization has been dominating the Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Series DP class lately. (winning 9 of the last 10 races overall)
Grand Am is offering 25 Grand to the team who knocks Ganassi off the top.
I wonder if teams will try that much harder now to try to beat the Blue and Red.
I guess it means Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas have a Target on their backs...
Watching Pruett and Co. win every race gets kind of boring. Yeah, they're good, yeah they deserve to win, but it does get old.
Now that the Canoe invasion has ended, lets return to normal conversation.
VIR in a week. Can't wait!
No ALMS for TWO MONTHS! gotta watch some kind of racing!

Doesn't NASCAR own this series? Why don't they just fix the races?

Who says they don't? This confirms my Nascar/Wrestling analogy of a different thread. And you all said I was crazy.

What makes you think the races aren't already fixed? After all, the Ganassi team is monied by the biggest budget, highest profile sponsor in the field.
And, the Pruett/Rojas combo is pretty ruthless on the track but don't receive many penalties, do they?
Have at it, boys!
Could the Hongs pull this off with enough backing?
I would pony up 1000 dollars to be on any team associated with both Hong Norr and Grand Am Rolex!
call me the "strategist" or something
I kinda like that they offered a reward rather than changing the rules to even the field.
In for a Hong Norr Grand Am team!

$25K? that is almost enough to put two cars in the race and "accidentally" wreck into their top driver... I am not saying that ever happens though.

Who says your have to pull a kamikaze? Nails or an oil slick would work almost as well.
Has there been Hong representation in this thread yet? I don't have my Hong Roster nearby to check.

Very much looking forward to it. I have only a vague idea of who the Hongs are and what they do/have done.

It's marketing. See how we're talking about it?
One of the tracks I raced at did this to me a little more than 10 years ago. I had won 27 races in a row, and they solicited local business to "contribute" to the bounty. It created a really big buzz at the track, and people did come to see it.
In reply to tuna55:
Yeah the Hong thing is kind of a mystery to me as well, although if possible I would like to contribute to the electrical side of the Hong Engineering Group, should they be interested.
Degrades Grand-Am to "pro" wrestling. And I can easily see Ganassai's lawyers busily at work right now. This is a promotion that will bite Grand-Am in the ass. And when the car is taken out by another team, hope they have lawyerd up very well, too.
And what incentive is there for Ganassai to stay in the series? Marketing attention only goes so far until the "intentional infliction of harm/damage" lawsuits start to fly, and Target sees its name associated with such attention and goes elsewhere.
If I had to venture a guess, Ganassi is relishing in the challenge. I have spoken to Chip, and I know what kind of guy he is, this isn't something he would back away from.
I am sure that Grand Am consulted with the Ganassi crew before issuing the "wanted poster".

Yes, the best racers sue people when others put a target on them. Lawyers rule.

Absolutely. They'll all be in on it. It's just marketing, and nothing more.
