Of the SCORE trophy trucks, I don't know of any of them that run an independant rear. And like any driveshaft- you need a decent lenght to make sure that the angles are not too much.
BTW, it is legal to run IRS, but it's a lot easier to have HUGE wheel travel on the driven wheels via live axle.

IRS makes it a truggy, not a truck IIRC. (Truggy = truck + buggy)

I thought Class 10s are required to run VW engines - it doesn't say so there, but the engine specs are so specific (1915cc air-cooled pushrod?) that I thought that had to be what was going on. So I hadn't paid enough attention to them and just skimmed past the category.
But that's not actually true, it turns out. A 1750cc 16 valve water cooled with stock fuel injection could be a B16A2, for example. Hmm. They're actually pretty close to what I'd been thinking of. I'm telling you, this level of off road racing is incredibly underrated. Having seen them live, and worked on one of them, they are INCREDIBLE racing vehicles. Seeing what they can do, wow.

You could use a VW torsion bar. Find one around where you live and extend the suspension mounts by cutting it at the angle in the mount, and weld some steel straight up to the height you want, and reattatch the mount. Dust to Glory is a good movie by the way

I don't think you can get the suspension travel out of a torsion bar, can you? I'd love to have at least 18". I want that long-legged feel of just absorbing anything.
Wouldn't be hard to find one. I drive past Kustom Coach Werks on the way to work.
