Everyone,
I figured Id turn to grassroots as well to help find that perfect for the cross country trip coming up in july.
Total miles: 3600
The crew: Wife, brother, friend and his wife (not all in the same car, looking for 2)
Price range: under $5k
The plan: Mid july we all take a 1 way ticket too Seattle. We have 3-4 days to find and car and prep it for the return journey. We will be cutting through the heart of the US and taking a bunch of "fun" roads around colorado.
Here is what I need help on: Does anyone have a car for sale in the north west area that could make the journey home with us? Ive been using clist a lot and have talked to several folks, but I wanted to branch out a little further.

Someone was selling a awesome 5 speed Falcon in Oregon.
Would you want an AMC Javelin?

One car. Early/mid 2000's dodge grand caravan. Room for everyone, decent mileage. Crushes highway miles and reliable as gravity.
All cars are considered, pm me some info but I ideally need to carry 3 of the 5 and have a bit of room for luggage.
Oregon is the ideal place to purchase a vehicle due to the extended temp tag rules.

Minivan is the best option to enjoy a dull ride with plenty of space and have plenty of junkyard options available along the route.
Lexus SC400 is a way to do it with a bit of style.
I'm planning on doing it in a 500 dollar 84 caprice lol

You nailed it and I PM'd the OP. Would love to see my car go to a GRMer.
Any Honda Civic, Accord, or even Fit in your price range. They all run well, run long & get huge mileage. What more can you ask?
In reply to Rupert:
Always an option. Was thinking more about "what I wouldn't be able get here on the east coast".
Probably can't get a Scirocco on the East Coast.
Mine, lots of affiliation.
I would look for a 5 series BMW or an Audi A8L (because legroom and cruising). IS 300, Acura TL, A6
Or if you want to go different/weird

In reply to Burrito:
You can't get them in the southwest either. I have been looking with a buddy for a long time for one. Get this.
In reply to catapultkid:
I was actually looking at that, but the one rust spot scared me away.
In reply to LifeIsStout:
Yeah, a road muncher like those wouldn't be bad. I did look at a motor home or two, but just can't seem to bring myself to do it.
I'm tailoring the selection down to cheaper cars due to some new constraints on the trip. I'll need to flip this when I return home to re-coupe some of the cost.
heres a classic GRM tale for some inspiration

"Cheap, old, and reliable enough to make it, but sketchy enough to make things interesting were our main concerns."
Yeah, love that read. Looking for similar experience.

I drove from WA to VA once. I shipped my Jeep and we drove in a 2001 E-150. That was back in 2002 and that was the last time we only had two cars. Nothing of value to add other than to wish you a lot of fun on your adventure.
