I can't believe they got it to fit. I had a 3/4 ton Dodge truck with that engine and the suspension lift it had seemed necessary for the front axle to clear the oil pan. Granted the Galaxie doesn't have a solid front axle, but still...

I've seen this car in person. It is completely and totally ridiculous.

And I love it.

That car needs some plain 15" steelies, make a column shifter work with whatever trans is in there now (727?), and hide the gauges behind an old under dash A/C setup to be a complete sleeper.

Did he powder coat the turbo?

In reply to Rob_Mopar:

I'm guessing with the fuel economy this thing gets they fitted one of the later truck transmissions with OD. A buddy of mine had an early 12V with a 727 and some sort of cludged on OD and it was a pretty terrible transmission setup.

Most likely if the guy is smart, and its just the cold side..... If the guy is an idiot that stuff was just rattle canned.

Personally, I like the car, they just chose the wrong drivetrain. Cummins can DIAF as far as I'm concerned.

It's a neat toy. That thing has to be super nose heavy and probably very interesting in a turn.

I don't see any way this thing could be a sleeper at all. A Cummins with enough work to make that kind of power can be heard from blocks away.

I bet that a fully dressed 428 isn't much lighter than that cummins. The FE motors (I have a 352 in my Galaxie) are heavy bitches.

In reply to singleslammer:

A fully dressed FE is around 700lbs. The 12V Cummins we swapped into my friends Chevy Dually was over 1150lbs!!!!

So the weight difference is basically like having a morbidly obese fat chick in the passenger seat. Not that crazy of a weight difference percentage-wise when we are talking land yachts here.....

I was thinking more along the lines of having a whole small block ford V8 bolted to the front of the existing FE V8.

I'm not saying that there isn't a huge weight gain.

Also I showed this to my father in law and he said I could have the drive train or if his work van for the Galaxie. It is a one ton Chevy with the 6.5l turbo diesel. Not the greatest motor but better than my stock FE, IMO. more info come spring
