Anyone done it?
My 2010 CTS-V has always had a bit of a “flare” on the 3-4 shift. Purchased with ~100k miles. Now has just under 150k
”I read it on the internet, so it must be true:” A lot of people say the transmissions were “under-filled” from the factory, and to change the fluid, and “overfill” the trans by anywhere from 1/2 quart to 2 quarts(?)
I talked to LSXperts about the issue, and they recommended “finding someone” to change the fluid but didn’t want to tackle it themselves.
Same story at the Chevy dealership; they didn’t want to touch it if the “trans is on its way out.”
I’ve been “driving around it” in manual mode, but it’s still there if you don’t “squeeze” the throttle in 3rd & 4th.
I’m prepared to drop the $4k for a replacement if things go tits-up, but would rather ATTEMPT the fluid change first.
But, again, there are different methods suggested on how to get the trans “REALLY full,” and whether or not to “overfill” and by how much.
Any 1st hand experience from the hive-mind???
