Apparently that's the new GT350R's ring time
I wouldn't be surprised.....and GM can't use the excuse "Well they're on race tires" because they were too with the z-28.....
I looked up the msrp on both cars.
I had forgotten that the Z28 price STARTED at $75,000 and only goes up from there. The speculated price I found with teh googlze was $52,000 and change.
LOL. Get real, chevy.
I was profoundly confused until I reread the first post- ring time, not ring tone. Makes more sense now.

Me too, that's why I typed "speculated".
But, seriously $75k for a hopped up camaro?!
Even at $75K the Z/28 is still much cheaper than anything else that has lapped under the 7:40 mark. $25K cheaper than the 911s which was a half second slower.
Take the Z out on a dry day and set a new time, no big deal. It's the outgoing platform anyhow, GM will still sell all the Z/28's it can make. I cant wait to see the new Caddy ATS-V and CTS-V times. I'd love to see those beat the Mustang.
that time is an unsubstantiated rumor currently, and the $52k speculated price is for the GT350, not the R model, so it will be closer to the Z/28 price. Move along, nothing to see here.
Well, I mean, American 'muscle cars' beating Porsches around the 'Ring IS something to see, but, you know what I meant.
aw, that's cute. But the Alfa 4c did nearly the same time with a third of the engine, half the horsepower, and ten times the looks
(I'm obviously just teasing for giggles here. Please don't yell at me)

Cleanup aisle 3. Cleanup aisle 3.
That scraping noise in the carousels makes me wince every time.

Really? The 'old news' C6 Z06 had an minimally higher base MSRP than the Z/28, yet on similar (albeit optional) DOT-R tires it lapped the ring a blazing 15 seconds faster than the Z/28 damp time and 10 seconds faster than the above noted GT350R time...And with a base MSRP still under $80k, the C7 Z06 should widen the relative bang-for-your-buck gap even further.
Mustang,Cadillac, or Camaro? Who cares about a lap time , they're all worth far more than I'll pay for a car. I think they should start setting times at the Ring in bro-trucks.It would be just as relevant.

Then you need to go see Robbie Gordon's Stadium Trucks road racing. Lap time doesn't matter, they're hilarious to watch, in a good sort of way.

^What I was trying and failing miserably to say. I wasn't trying to kick off a ford vs chevy thing, I couldn't care less about that. $75k would buy a decent 3 bedroom house in some of the small towns around here.
