Bother me?  No.  If I were driving one, and had to downshift several gears to get over a highway overpass, yes.

I just find it amusing that he drives a large V8 engine around at 4000 rpm on a flat city street.  Or does he really have to???

From what I've read, you can do headwork and get an RB20 to spin really fast, but it wont make any power up there as the head doesn't flow that well.  Boosted it is possible with a huge turbo.

Most people seem to just go straight to RB25 or 26 because its a much simpler route to make a ton of power.

They also cost about the same from importers, in some cases cheaper than an RB20DET.  Weird.

I'll allow that an E46 feels much better as a 330 than a 325, especially with all wheel drive.

Sounds very exaggerated b/c even with only 128 wtq on my car, I rarely have to down shift on the highway to pass people or get over an overpass. Nor do I ever feel like I am lacking power or this magical low end torque that supposedly is desirable.

Now, to quit trolling, I really like the sound of my 350 Chevrolet V8 with the 142 blower on it.  The blower drive is about 6:1, so at 6000 engine rpm, the blower is doing about 36,000 rpm, and sounds really nice.

I enjoy my 8,000 rpm DD 8th gen Civic Si. The gearing kind of makes up for the lack of torque.

A Vortec 4.8L (LS) will rev to 8000 rpm enthusiastically...doesn't even require springs or a cam to do it, but you will want those if you plan to do it often.

You know people made a huge stink about the 2020 Civic Si getting a bump from a 4.10 to a 4.35 final drive ratio....like yo the 8th and 9th gens had a 4.76!

Also F20Bs out of JDM Accord Si-Rs can be revved to 8k but they may let a rod loose in 4th gear on the back straight of Sebring.

Did the 8th/9th gens have the same transmission ratios of the 10th gen? Otherwise it's not a  comparison.

That's funny. When people base so much about a car on how it dodges cones in a parking lot, I kind of laugh to myself.

I just think of Todd who just came in second in G Street at his local autox whipping it around the local grocery store parking lot in frustration and going full GTA because 2nd gear in the 2020 Si isn't long enough and that 2-3 upshift cost him precious tenths of a second.

Honda Beats came with a 660cc 3 with ITBs and they REV. They don't sound very amazing with the OEM intake box and OEM exhaust, though.

But I admit that I just want more people to be playing with Kei sports in the US.

I daily a Celica GTS with just an intake and it's fun to zing to 8200 while barely breaking the speed limit. I just rolled 180k miles on it though and I'm worried the oil pump might explode if I do that too often.

Damn - my S54 engine in my E86 is limited to 7,900. So close.....

(Only other one I've had that was close in street form was my Lambo 400 GTS which ran to about 7800)

I specifically went out and bought an ITR to experience its 8400rpm ported and balanced engine. The sound hitting VTEC (yo) is glorious, it revs up so fast from the balance and the power coming on cam is wicked. It is essentially half a Ferrari engine. I wish I could have that engine in my other cars.

Much thanks to Scott Lear for sharing his experience with his. His comments sold me on that car.
