so will number of diaper changes you perform significantly increase challenge score?

The number of diaper changes Per performs will most certainly affect the score.

The number of diaper changes you perform that Per doesn't have to will affect the score more significantly.

I love the new look. Hope you've got time to test the changes at the track.

He can't drive it yet so it should handle about the same as far as he can tell..... LOL

If all goes well he should be getting his learners permit the day we leave for the Challenge.

No local autocrosses before the big dance so the changes will be untested. We have the ability to easily rais the nose back to the cheap seats for the autocross. (they turn better nose high)

Oi, still can't make up my mind. I have a couple cars to choose from but I haven't spend dollar one to get any of them in any sort of shape for competition.

So, drop the dough on the road trip, the registration, and the stay, to show up in a regular cheapass car? I've been agonizing over this decision every year for 9 years.

26 days, 10 hours, 10 minutes to go. I have to travel for work on 12 of those days. Family to do on 1, can't miss me little guys b-day. Travel time to get to Florida. .....I need some luck at this point. I have only made about 1 to 2 hours of progress since last Friday.

You guys with long drives are real troopers. I've got a 2 hour drive that turned into a 5 hour drive last year with rain, darkness, 2 flat tires, and a back road search for a Walmart.

Thought I would introduce myself. My name is Dennis and will be coming from the Richmond, VA area. 1st post by the way but a long time reader/subscriber and lurker. My son (15) and I will be bringing a '84 BMW e30 with a carbed 4.3L Vortec V6 built with a cam and nitrous; a GM 5-speed and BMW 4:10 LSD completes the drivetrain. We both are very excited to be attending regardless of the outcome. I am looking forward to meeting some of you. I marvel at some of the creations and fabrication skills I have seen here.

A couple of pictures below. Engine compartment has been cleaned up and wires re-routed since this picture. These were the only pictures I had at work. Still sorting out some details of the build.

That E30 looks like it could be really interesting. I know nothing about the carb'd V6 Chevy motors but I'm sure there are plenty of cheap ways to make more power. GL

I do not know an abundance about them either. I did not build the motor and took a chance when buying. But it came with a 5-speed, clutch assembly, and a box of misc parts, bolts, etc.

Hot Rod built up a 90's Vortec V6 a few years ago using a carb and was able to produce 300hp NA. The guy who built and was running the motor supposedly used the same formula as in the article. My "seat-of-the-pants dyno" suggests the motor is not quite producing that. However, it is hard to tell with the tires spinning so much.

Very nice. Look forward to seeing it in person. Gotta love the cut out for the air filter in a hood that I believe slides shut.

Yay! The tRacer finally runs and with only a couple of weeks remaining. Now to get the driveshaft fitted, hood and trunk lid painted, dash board installed, some electronics, etc etc etc. A bit of tuning would be nice too. It's still going to be cut short .

That engine sounds awesome

I like the V6 E30 as well. Seems the engine fits quite nicely, with more room to spare than I would have imagined anyway.

i'm so sick of wiring! but i ran the last wires last night and am now down to hooking everything into my switch / fuse panel. last night over dinner my wife reminded me that i'll be out of town the first weekend of October. when i asked her why i'll be out of town she said, "the challenge, duh!" i thought i might have to fight her for enough time to get the car finished and mildly debugged, but i guess it won't be a fight after all. just a couple of odds and ends before i can start the engine and maybe limp the car around the block.

I've got a cold, so I sat in and did my preliminary budget last night. I'm at $1,565. That leaves plenty of money for a brand spanking new coil-over kit, but with this cold, I just don't see it happening. Maybe I'll put ($2008 -$1,565) dollar coins in the trunk and tell the judges its ballist. (But I never did count it.)

Yeah, inappropriately timed head colds suck. And that Challenge Countdown clock just keeps tickin' along.... ugh. Good idea, tho, SpinOut. I think i'll go sort through my receipts and make them orderly and presentable.

BTW, anyone looking for a roomate at the Challenge host hotel?

We knocked the Jetta off the jackstands yesterday while try to break an axle nut loose. I've never done that before. Got lucky as there was no damage other than some bent sheet metal under the car. Rear rotors are still round even, they took the shock pretty well I should probably post a picture of the jackstand wedged between the rear beam and the uni body, had to use a pry bar to get it out.

I'm going to slow down a bit in the next couple days and get more sleep.
