As long as we are on the 3rd gen F Body run
When my wife asks me why I don't have the Christmas decorations down yet, I'm telling her that it's your fault.
To save everyone else time, what I found from my 40 minutes of searching is that the car was apparently purchased to be built into either a drag car or a street rod. The engine build never got completed, so the car sat in storage until about 2008 or so. When it was dragged out of the trailer it had 4.3 miles on it and over the next couple years the milage doubled and it was sold on eBay and then at Mecum. I think $27k was the final auction price.
Anyway, that's what I found.

Wonder why the wheels needed replacement. If it truely was dry storage, they shouldn't have any corrosion. Wonder what other aluminum corroded.
I found three sources on the topic of the wheels. One said that the wheels were shipped inside the car from the factory due to theft concerns, but that doesn't explain why they wound up completely missing. Another source said that the original wheels were removed to protect the tires during storage and were either sold or lost. The third (and this is the one that I believe) said that the original wheel were in demand in 1985 and were sold off to help fund the build of the drag car since they wouldn't have been used anyway. Of course that third theory could simply be the second part of either of the first two as well.
I really find it kind of strange that the whole story in the various magazines and YouTube channels all start with moving and then opening the storage trailer. You can hear a guy off camera offer to call his wife and have her look at the title to see what year the car is, but the whole story of how the car wound up in the trailer in the first place isn't really told in a coherent fashion anywhere that I could find easily.
I don't understand how someone can be THAT scatter brained so as to forget and neglect a beautiful machine for THAT long?!?!? I mean, c'mon! I stare at all three of my cars every single day. Not one day goes by that i don't check in on my babies.
