The price is kinda nuts, IMHO, but it makes you dream... and wonder what his "real" selling price might be...

I dunno, that tub is tens of thousands of dollars in parts and labor away from every being something driveable. Without the the fact that there is no way to title it, its still a tough sell. I can't imagine someone buying this unless they had a donor car. The donor car, I'm thinking, may have a salvage title, so even if you swap everything over the new car would have a salvage title too since you would have to use the existing vin.
This car, only built and running and driving, is on ebay for $29k, if that puts it in perspective: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MAKE-OFFER-CALL-RYAN-87-328-GTS-Gold-Tan-XLNT-DRIVE-Beverly-Hills-Porsche-CA-/170947614413?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item27cd4596cd
Could you spend $15k on this shell and still get all the parts put on and get it all assembled for less than $15k? Or could you say it was on a new tub and get someone to pay a whole lot extra? I dunno... there are absolutely mint ones going for around $50k, and that gives you a bit more wiggle room. seems like it would be tough either way.

While I'm not a fan of the exterior color, the brown and cream leather interior on that car is lovely...
/offtopic
I'm sure the exterior color is one of the reasons that one is a few thousand less than other examples I've seen. People like their ferrari's red, red, and red. And depending on the model, occasionally black or yellow, and once in a while white.
I agree the interior is gorgeous, I can't imagine thats the original upholstery though. Those seats look like new, 3 decades and 50k of seat time should have given them some patina, no?
on a side note, I never realized that 80's supercars had full sized spares.. and never realized just how small the foot box is on those.. not sure my fat size 11's would even fit in there. I'll try a hotlink:
Tiny offset pedal box is an Italian thing, from Fiats to Ferraris, all hard to drive if you wear 12s on up.
Only sightly above the Challenge cutoff....
Ferrari 365 197? 400i body style hot rod rat body complete no chassis or running - $2750 (Roswell)

Wonder what those wheels are attached to if there's no chassis?

For the record, that's not a 400i. It's a (similar) 365 GT4 2+2. It may be overpriced.

The 308 is beautiful, even when most of it is missing.

LOL!!
Does anyone campaign a 328 in any of the vintage racing series? I could see someone buying the chassis from the first post if they wrecked their race car. While googling to try to answer my question, I found one pic of a 328 that might be racing, and this might just be a very expensive track toy.
Guy in my Corvette club had a 328 for years. Great guy, said the Ferrari owners he met were usually realy nice people. He brought the 328 to a club autox and let a few of us drive it (told you he was nice). Cool experience; the car was awesome to watch and drive. Not at all as capable as the newer Corvettes but: Dead. Ass. Sexy.
I showed my boss the 328 ad. He laughed. Said that is worth about $2,000 as it sits. Says the only hope this guy has is if someone wrecks a 328 in the rear and wants to rebuild it.
The pic I posted yesterday, he said he'd let go for $10,000 as it sits.

Is it just me or does that look like a Fairmont?
