So my moms 2wd f150 just starting having transmission problems. I havn't driven it yet but basically she says it doesn't shift on the highway. I'm going to drive it later today and see what it is.

But the problem is we were just about to sell it. We don't need a truck anymore and the replacement is here (a maxima) so.....how can I patch this thing up? Its been a fantastic truck until now.

How fubard is this trans, can a flush help? Transmission honey? Or is a rebuild in order, or is a stupid sensor?

i've heard of a lot of ford trans problems being fixed, or postponed for a time at least, with a pan and filter change.

Wow tons of auto questions as of late... No upshift can be loads of things. 1st check fluid MECRON V only 2nd start it and drive is the OD light on the shifter stalk blinking? If so computer knows theres a problem... Check out fordtrucks.com and f150online.com for more info.

+1.

Given it's an E4OD, too many places to even guess at potential problems.

Whatever you do, don't let her dump a ton of money into it just to sell it. There's plenty of people who buy lightly broken cars, and trucks are much easier sells when broken compared to cars.

I have TONS of customers who'll sink many thousands of dollars into repairs just to sell the car for about what they just paid to fix it. I've seen many of them take a loss on a sale this way.

Go get a quote from a transmission shop to rebuild or otherwise fix it, deduct that from whatever you wanted to get from the truck and be done with it.

What F150s had a 4R70W? I've got a '96 Bronco and it's an E4OD, did they swap to the 4r70w when they went to the mod motor?

96 is the last of the OBS. Lemme guess, 5.0/302?

Ford seemed to put E4OD's behind the 300 I6 and 351's.

95-03 should be a 4R70W unless its the 5.4, then it could be the 4R100.

Verify Governor pressure solenoid function and Governor pressure sensor function. Pan and filter change. Your torque converter has a drain on it so pull that too.

Order a tube of "shudder fix" and put it in with the new fluid.

If that doesn't do it, get a junkyard tranny for $350 and put it in yourself.

'95 Lightning's (351) had the E4OD.

Yeah I completely forgot to check the fluid level. Some ones already come to look at it so hopefully its just gone.

I'll check the fluid when I get home, thanks for the help.
