So I bought a '98 Sebring Lxi for $500 last week. Its got a realy easy hit in the front so i need to replace the AC Condensor, Front Bumper Cover, Hood and Radiator. I think I got a good deal, they were askin $1200, then $1000 and i got it for $500. 2.5 V6 runs very smooth, needs a little work but nothin too major. Sould be a decent DD with a little work, and a possible challenge car too...
Not a bad beater... though I've always wondered what it would take to put an AWD Eclipse drivetrain in one. Supposedly they share floor stampings.
I'd rather have an old 71 Sebring Satellite w/ a 440. very cool and very fast. Just don't try to turn.
But still a good buy.

Well I got it home and its gonna need: a hood, Front bumper cover and reinforcement, AC Condensor and a Radiator.~400 in parts, It sure does run decent. With a little TLC should be a nice DD.

My understanding is that those are basically a 3rd-gen Eclipse with different sheet metal and a detuned motor.
I can't stand either, but if it was cheap, and you like it, go for it, man!
Should be a fairly decent DD, but with the bent support- just make sure that radiator isn't cracked. Have fun!
Buy and fix for ~$1000, put an ad out for $2500 OBO on the thing and buy a Miata?
cross off the radiator support, I was able to salvage it. So a Hood, Front Cover, Radiator & Condensor and reinforcement. Found a cover for $75. Woot!

maybe it is because i drove through your town last week. or maybe because i still have the s10 chassis from you.
You should be able to fix it for cheaper than that. The salvage yards are full of these cars and most of them should be undamaged. I bet the transmission is the most common cause of death.
fix it and flip it. I would not want to keep a car like this around!

Amen... and don't try to rebuild the one that's in it. I manage a transmission shop, and the number of builders who can successfully build one of those you can probably count on your left hand... even if you're a war vet.
I applaud your purchase, but honestly... pass it on to someone else... ASAP
I dont plan to keep it forever, just tryin to get it repaired and then see how it does as a temporary DD. I'm ordering a rediator for it this weekend. Its actually very comfy inside!

Shared floor stampings with the FWD eclipses IIRC..... the only ones that had the stampings to clear the rear dif, that weren't already AWD were the Eclipse Spyders. I could be wrong though.

Second gen, actually, with a V6 option that was related to the one in the third gen as well as the 3000GT. Later ones were a much closer design to the Eclipse.
I'd rather have my 3000GT VR-4 back ANYDAY!!!!
