i think as long as they are the same series motors or came from a fwd variant of what u got they usually are the same ...

Thanks for the reply. so far I have gotten several different answers to this question from local mechanics/auto parts stores.
A reference book I use for these matters, says that the engine is the same from an '83 to an '87. In '88 Sentras changed fuel delivery systems from carb to fuel injection on that engine.
